Ordered it in 4/22, but didn't get it installed until late May. Within the first week it had a ground fault error. Simple troubleshooting is to reset the breaker and goes back to normal. Not a huge deal since it happened once or twice a week and never interrupted my charging since my vehicle is currently a PHEV and takes 2 hours for a full charge. But if I added or replaced our vehicle with a full EV then I can see a big annoyance. Contacted support and they sent me a new one with a return label. Replacement is doing great with no ground fault errors since the 3 weeks I installed it. The manual makes it seem like it's portable and it can be especially with the bracket installed on the wall and the unit can be easily be taken off. But it's huge so probably wouldn't count it as a portable option. If we add an EV in the future then I will buy the dual version. ... show more

I have owned this unit for a full year now. I bought it because I wanted a high quality charger that would charge my BMW i3 outdoors reliably in New England winters while exposed to hash elements (snow, ice, -20F - Massachusetts) since I do not have a garage. I love smart home tech, but since most EVs have an App that reports usage / allows for charging schedules, I opted for a high quality dumb charger, thinking fewer things could fail or frustrate me that way. This box is built like a tank. The enclosure is metal and the chord is heavy, thick, and resisted getting stiff in cold weather like lots of public chargers do (I'm looking at you ChargePoint). I'm fairly certain my plow guy hit the cord with a metal shovel several times and its no worse for wear. Two very minor (and potentially random) things knock a star off, but Grizzl-e's stellar, Toronto-based support keep a very strong 4.5-star rating. I want to stress every email was answered within hours with kindness, diligence, and urgency I appreciated. 1) The charge head seems sensitive to getting wet – not while in your car, but when it's sitting in its charging holster. In my case, 2 times blue acid-like residue bubbled up on the charge pins after a rain – the blue residue came right off when I tapped it and support confirmed it would not hurt the EV but was unusual so they replaced the whole unit for me. They even got the component vendor on the email chain to review the photos with me as a courtesy. 2) The one downside to buying a completely dumb (but very high quality) EV charger is that the path to firmware updates is remarkably manual. I had my BMW i3 in the shop and they updated the firmware of the car. When I got home, the charger had trouble completing a handshake with the car (it took 2-3 times to get it to correctly begin charging, this would intermittently happen every few charges). I reached out to Grizzl-e support and they said there was a firmware update for the charger, so they would send me a new unit and a return label for the current unit. Yikes! Sure enough, the new unit worked flawlessly, but it was a hassle to have to dismount and remount the unit from the side of my house (in winter) for something as trivial as a firmware update. I trust the smart version doesn't have this issue, but I'd suggest they mount a USB port in the unit for manual firmware updates moving forward. That said, I suspect this is highly unusual. TL;DR: High quality dumb charger with excellent support, worth the slight splurge over bargain basement style dumb chargers - get this one. ... show more

I took delivery of this product on 02/11/2022 and have nothing but positives and no cons to speak of. If you are in need of an EV charger, I highly recommend you consider a Grizzl-E unit for your purchase. I believe you will be totally impressed with it as I am. I had it installed in my garage with a 50 amp circuit virtually immediately and it has performed flawlessly since; which means, all the time, every time. It is my first venture into EV's and is for my 2022 Jaguar EV HSE iPace. Based on the quality of my vehicle I wanted a charger of the same quality for it; this is why I went with Grizzl-E. Without a lot of help from my dealership and knowing the price of $1100 for an EV charger from Jaguar, I embarked on my venture of finding a unit satisfactory and, hopefully, at a lesser price. While googling many different chargers, what I found was that they were higher priced and largely had screens that told me a lot of digital information that I had no interest in or was readily available from the software already in my car. That to me that just looked like something additional on the charger that could fail. When I saw the information on the Grizzl-e and realized how lower priced it is and how sturdily constructed but simple and that it is designed and made in Canada but also so versatile, I was sold. It also carries a UL and CUl inspection certificate. I will soon be returning to Pittsburgh for the summer and will take the unit with me for installation there. It is versatile in that is easily removed from the wall bracket and with the purchase an additional wall bracket and a plug holder from Grizzl-E, it will be installed there on my garage wall. Its versatility also applies to the fact that it through the use of dip switches it can readily be used at different amperage. BTW, what is really the cherry on top of the whipped cream is Grizzl-E's level of customer service. When I contacted them regarding the wall bracket and plug holder and other operational questions they were top notch and right on top of answering me.     • Had to return due to internal defect

The unit is affordable (relatively speaking) and simple, no “smart features.” Plug in and turn on. Mine was installed by an electrician. After about it week, it started beeping and flashing a blue “error light.” I had to go online to find the owner’s manual as it was not included with the purchase. There are 12 types of flashing and beeping errors listed, each correlating to a different problem. I followed the directions (basically turn it off and on again) and the beeping stopped. A week later, it started up again. The electrician returned to check all connections and wiring. All was as it should be. My electrician then called the company and was told that the unit would need to be replaced. Had to take it all down and pack it all up. Amazon was very helpful in getting a replacement unit right away. The electrician installed the new one and so far, so good. It’s worth purchasing some type of hook though, for the cord, so it isn’t just a mess on the floor. ... show more
