  • Weathers all
Style: Large Rectangular
This thing is amazing. I've had this feeder up for nearly two years now, and I've never had a problem with it. Notably, it has never fallen down, even through all types of weather, and even if I've moved it once or twice to adjust the position. It's just rock solid. I've had all kinds of birds visit. I would constantly have cardinals, and then the occasional titmouse or chickadee stop by. Depends on the feed, somewhat. Eventually, I decided I didn't need to see so many birds (they can be distracting or noisy sometimes) and instead tried to target larger or more "rare" birds. So now, I have my feeder full of roasted, unsalted peanuts in the shell, which draws a blue jay visitor maybe once a day, and the occasional woodpecker. The blue jays are fun and very pretty to see briefly, although they are occasionally screaming in the backyard, now... but I like it. :) Anyways, the large rectangular is just big enough for a blue jay to fit themselves in there, but now, I would have gotten one of the larger ones, to accommodate all birds comfortably. I still might upgrade one day. It's good to keep it clean (it's easy to take down for this) but the rain and stuff doesn't ever really disturb it, just maybe an occasional stray leaf, or bugs, but I clean it up regularly. It's also very important to make sure you have safe, appropriate foods for wild birds in there. And one more very important thing: early on, I had a cowbird hit my window (I think he had a bad eye and couldn't see very well), who ended up dying. We have to be very careful to make windows visible to birds. After that, I would keep my blinds down but open, or keep curtains over big parts of the window to help. Occasionally a bird might miss their landing or thunk the window, but I haven't had any more casualties or severe injuries since. Stick-on decals on the windows would also potentially help birds see your window, so they don't fly into the glass. ... show more

This is my second feeder the first one lasted about 8 years it broke when temperatures dropped into single digits and two big blue jays got in it I think the cold made it break the bottom dropped right out. • Fun to watch the birds, works best with sunflower hearts.

  • The (Almost) Best Window Feeder
Style: Large House
This window feeder is by far the best I have ever used. Previously, I had a clear glass "house" style one that did not allow the hopper to fill the feeding trays and I was constantly going and shaking the sunflower hearts down. It also had flimsy suction cups that released during cold weather. The other window feeder I used contained 2 individual trays that needed filling and also had flimsy suction cups that squirrels were constantly taking it down. So much so the housing broke. The extra strength suction cups with this feeder have not been breeched by squirrels and the 2 tray feeder is one unit, which is a stronger design than the 2 individual trays. The installation was a breeze. The unit is worth the price as there is no breakage caused by the squirrels, which have at rare times landed on the feeder, but did not take it down. The circular cut out in the back facilitates better viewing of the birds and the overall appearance is superior without the clouding that so often happens with sunflower hearts. A superior product. Unfortunately, 2 days after I wrote this laudatory review, the tray was dislodged by what I suspect was a squirrel, breaking off a part of a tray. I just wish the trays were made of something unbreakable. Thus, I down graded to 4 stars. ... show more

  • Great Concept, Flawed Design
Style: Large House
The concept of a clear bird feeder is fantastic. I love it, my cats love it, and guests love it. It's such a fun, cheap, easy thing to add to the house that brings countless hours of enjoyment. I will never not have a clear bird feeder on my house, HOWEVER, I would not recommend this particular model. If you're like me, you have no idea what to consider when it comes to buying a clear bird feeder. They all look similar, they are all similarly priced, so which one do you get? I wondered the same thing, didn't want to put the time in, so I bought this one. I ultimately returned it because I discovered that this particular bird feeder has one large flaw: **When birds land on the outer rim of the feeding tray, they can easily accidentally knock it out** And the problem gets worse the bigger the birds you have, or if squirrels come too. I found that I had to go outside multiple times a day and slide the feeding tray back into the feeder. It was literally falling apart multiple times a day from routine bird-use. I ended up changing to an identically priced version. This version's feeding tray slides DOWN into the feeder, not sideways into it. The birds are unable to knock my new one out like they were able to easily knock this one out. I highly recommend getting a different style feeder whose feeding tray is easy for you to remove, but not easy for birds to remove. The IDEA is fantastic though. Suction cups worked great. The other problem I had with this feeder is that the entry for the birds is small. Some of the more timid birds that would visit would get nervous when they felt trapped by other birds arriving. The clear bird feeder I upgraded to has open sides (not just the front) so it's easier for birds to feel comfortable when eating at it. Would not recommend. ... show more
