ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm kind of amazed at how well this thing works. It pulls out weeds easily and the design is sturdy, like the tools of old! I pulled several dandelions, with this in clay soil. It did recently rain which softens the clay, so it will be interesting to see how well it works in dry clay soil which can be really hard. My one disappointment is that I wish the tines were a bit longer. (One star off.) I'm going to be using this for dandelions and thistle. Both have really deep roots and if you don't get the whole root, I think it will sprout again. Most of the older large dandelions that I tried this on ended up with a broken off tap root at the end of the tines. It appeared to get the entire root with younger dandelions. I've surveyed similar tools and none of them have longer tines. I think this is the best weed puller you can get. UPDATE: In Minnesota we deal with dandelions early and annual crabgrass later in the season. This tool works GREAT on annual crabgrass because the roots aren't 6 inches deep like with dandelions. Annual crabgrass is hard to control. It starts in early spring with pre-emergent and then later you can use post-emergent on young plants, but as the plant grows larger it becomes more resistant to post-emergent treatments. That's where this tool comes in. If you can get the larger crabgrass plants BEFORE they go to seed, you will be much better off for next year. This tool is great for pulling those larger crabgrass plants that got past the pre-emergent treatment and post-emergent spray. Now I have one more tool to combat crabgrass! You will have 1" diameter divots in your yard from this tool, just think of them as a way to aerate the soil. ... show more

I have been in my house for almost 10-years and have inherited a yard full of deeply stubborn weeds. I have killed my back, hands, and neck trying to pull out several of them. Because they are deep rooted in my lawn, the use of weed killer sprays means sacrificing my lawn in the process...which isn't a choice for me. Got this for dandelion season, worked like a champ! Well crafted, quality material, hard wood handle feel, but light to carry around. Very comfortable, good grip, and easy to use. Put my bored kids to work - five cents per whole weed extracted. Easy for them to use!

Ok so I know that pulling weeds is not normally a fun activity but this tool made the process easy and oddly satisfying! It didn’t take long for me to get the hang of positioning the claws over the center of the weed and with a little tip of the handle the weed came up with a little “pop”!
