  • Poor zippers
I bought this brand because it is supposedly one of the better grow tents available and I didn't want to suffer thru buyer's remorse. So I was very disappointed to discover defects other people had complained about. I've seen people on other sites complain about the zippers being difficult to operate and I thought they were just snivelers. But they were right. These zipper's pitch doesn't match exactly between the two sides, which causes the teeth on one side to push outwards when trying to zip. This outward tooth position causes the zipper to stick until you use your thumb to push it down while you're trying to slide the zipper. It can be a real PIA because these tents are almost all zipper. Other than the zipper complaint, the remainder of the tent seems to be well made and designed. Edit 8/13/16: Regarding the zippers, I've found that rubbing candle wax (paraffin) on all sides of the zipper helps a lot. Gorilla should supply a candle with the tent... Also, using your thumb to push down on the leading edge of the zipper while zipping will help align the two sides zipper. ... show more

  • This is THE brand you want!
Up date 9/25/15 I made this into a veg room and recommend these tables for that. http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005T7OFFK?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_5 The reason I switched was in part that a 1000 watt hps is too much heat for this size so I got a Gorilla 9 x 5 tent as I needed larger space enough to handle the heat. By the time you get a fan so the air is moving through the glass hood why not use two lights? You probably need an air conditioner anyways unless its winter time. If you do use a hot light like say over 600 watts hps, I would recommend blowing air in one corner bottom and out the opposite top while constricting all other air outlets to force the air turnover and optimize cooling. It may make your tent look super bloated but it reduces the temperatures best that way and those floor lift vents are not automatic and mess up your flowering light possibly (unless you have auto fems). Update 4/7/2015 I just bought another Gorilla tent because these are the best. The new Gorilla tent does not have the few minor defects listed below. Look no farther as this is THE very best on the market. Yes it has a few small manufacturing flaws which leave little chance to return if you need this but I just kept mine as the defects were rather small. This tent is so heavy you do not want to return it unless it is important. The tent is so heavy you also need help with assembly. There is one big pin hole leak on the upper left corner of left door window stitching. There is a 3 inch gap where the stitching is missing in the lower right hand corner right between the heavy reinforced stitching sections. However it does not seem to effect anything including light leaks. There were two corner pieces with one cut off so much a nearly unnecessary plastic cap did not fit on right or fell off. I was sent new corner pieces graciously. There is a spot where the front door flap edge reinforcement was spliced instead of being in one piece. Not perfect but does not effect the function. Everything else about the tent is something to be proud of. Infra red roof blocker, totally unmatched in reflective quality, thick strong material, virtually lightproof, and supports over 300 POUNDS weight. Get the best if you plan on using it over and over or you will be sorry when everything comes crashing down and smashes all your hopes and dreams. Mind you this is THE best size value for square footage too out of all the Gorilla line. The roof bars were bad at first look before I actually used it. The roof bars are made to slide, two one way and two the other, so the lights can be move super easy with a rubber mallet after everything is up and functioning. Just do not blow it and ruin the tent super easily by improper assembly! There is a you tube video one proper assembly. You MUST completely unzip the whole tent and then build the frame on top of the floor section because it fits tighter than you can imagine and CANNOT BE SLID DOWN OVER THE FRAME! I hate to cap like that but that is so important that can hardly be understated. The paper instructions are not the best. Watch the corner pieces as they are fairly confusing to which exact way they must be put together, making sure that the two matching ends go to the side bars instead of up or down. Soon I should be rocking and rolling lots real soon. ... show more

  • Should include mushroom air intake vents to allow cool air in but keeping light out
It's a high quality tent but for this amount of money it needs: 1. Flaps over air/extension cord holes to keep out the light. 2. Should include mushroom air intake vents to allow cool air in but keeping light out. 3. Better instructions. The instructions that came with my tent were not clear and 2 of the parts had different letters on them than the instructions. Overall an OK tent but could be much better. ... show more

  • Grest tent , needs to be couple inches shorter
Arrived quicker then expected, happy, definitely not air tight ,but good quality and completely light proof, I am ok with paying twice as much as a cheaper tent just to Not to find out the $170 tents are junk or have issues while in use. I did have to reduce the height of the frame by 2 inches, as my basement floor joist where exactly the same height or 1 inch too low, would not recomend doing unless you are in/familiar with skilled trades and can replicate the original new condition of pieces labeled B. The reduction of 2 inches has no visual effect or other noticeable differences if the tents fit. On that not why make it 6' 11" and include a hieght extension , it Should be 6 inhes shorter with adjustable extension included since many homes have basements have ceiling hieght exactly 6' 11" or less. Just over 6 foot with a Adjustable hieght extension would be nice especially since very similar tents sell for half of the price. Definitely would be worth the money then. ... show more

  • Solid but potentially overpriced
It’s alright. The material is definitely heavy duty and feels superior. Though, as others note the zipper walls could use more Velcro and do leak light. During flower I need to take extra precautions there’s not like leaking in the tent.

  • Needs more velcro on the main flaps.
Nice tent but had some light leakage issues with the main door flaps. A few more inches of velcro strips would have solved that issue. Also have issues with the zipper coming loose at the bottom of the main flap entrance. Otherwise overall quite pleased. Needs more velcro strips on the main entrance flaps. ... show more

  • Finally something that lives up to the HYPE...
Very high quality. This is my first grow tent so can't really compare to anything else, but I am impressed. I sat up the 5x5 by myself and had no problems. But probably would have been easier to do the roof and attach the main tent body with an extra set of hands. Cool thing is they include a set of straps that I am assuming is for hanging an exhaust fan and filter, that's what I will be using them for anyway. These things are built to last and that's exactly what I am wanting. Not sure what the other reviewer was talking about when they said the instructions aren't clear. You would have to be a complete moron not to understand the instructions. There is also a video on Youtube walking you through the super easy process. I only had 1 pole and corner that didn't want to connect at first, but I twisted it back and forth and worked it into place. Very satisfied and I will recommend to friends. ... show more
