    • For slicing and coring it works

I have to say for slicing and coring, the machine works. Some of the metal is very thin so I found it worked better if I applied pressure to the "slicing and coring" part with my left hand, while spinning the apple towards it using the handle with my right hand. I also found out that most apples aren't perfectly shaped, which made the aligning onto the spikes difficult. Not a deal-breaker, this tool (again supported by left hand supporting the coring and cutting piece) worked well and quickly, As you spin the apple in, it cuts very uniform thickness spirals. You may need to go in and cut out bit of seeds or core left behind if the apple wasn't perfectly aligned on the spikes or had a larger core than was cut by the arm that cuts the core cylinder. I thought it was easier than using a knife to cut out the core and I think I was able to leave more that I would have if I used a knife. The 3 vs a 4 or 5 star was due to the build, if the metal was sturdy enough to use without backing it up or using my hand to reinforce a component, it would have scored higher. I paid under $20 so I think it was well worth what I paid, but as-is I wouldn't want to pay more for it. ... show more

Actually works well once you adjust it. I almost returned it right after I tried it but I gave it one more try and figured it out! Keeping now. First, the suction power depends upon what surface you use, like most things it suctions best to a slick surface, glass, granite, marble, I use my cold glass cooktop. Its not gonna stick to everything! second: if u loosten the wingnut on the corer and lower it out of the way or remove, it enables the parer blade to do the whole apple. If found with hard apples the corer just slows down the forward movement of the paring blade/apple and just digs out the apple flesh in "ruts". So if you don't mind just using this to peel your apple, it works like a charm and is much nicer than peeling buy hand. Peels perfectly, fast Then you can core and slice with one of those little push down apple gadgets. ... show more
