  • Works GREAT with my ARES portable radios.
Style: JPC-12
I wanted an antenna for HF that was basic, easy to carry and set up. But it ale had to perform. I set this up the first time, and pre set the coil for 20 Meters, and added four radials. My SWR came out to 1.06! I was very impressed. My radio is a basic Yeasu 450D and with it set to 25 watts, I was able to make several contacts across the US. The propigation was not well at all, but I was able to make clear 2 way with them. BTW, my noise level was very low (3 or so) No noise. This allows me to receive weaker stations and is very helpful. I can carry this antenna very easy with the included case. It takes just a couple minutes to set up. One important feature is the coil, which sometimes needs to be adjusted, is mid way up the antenna and that is a dream to adjust standing up. No more getting on your knees to see it. Really a great design feature. I am very happy with this product. Its great for POTA and ARES during hurricane season. It is now a major part of my portable kit. N4JEP ... show more

  • For what it is, this antenna works and is very portable
Style: JPC-12
I have been playing with the PAC-12 antenna in my back yard for about a week now and have decided that I mostly like it a lot. On 17 meters, I can remove the coil and shorten the whip a little and have a decent 17 meter ground mounted vertical. It was acceptable on 20 and 30 meters but would have benefited from longer ground radials. I didn't try it on 40 meters as the weak radial system would not have made for a good test. I did attach a hand wound choke/balun at the antenna,12 turns of RG58 on a 240 toroid core, and fed it with 50 feet of RG58. I separated the supplied radial ribbon out into four separate lines. I was able to feed it with 95-100 Watts, and it performed better than expected, especially on 17 meters. I did use an antenna analyzer to tune it (AA-170). You 'can' tune it with an SWR meter but be prepared for a lot of trips between the radio and the antenna. For what this claims to be, it is definitely a keeper, just keep in mind that more and longer ground radials are important below about 17 meters. Edit added: I am liking this thing even more now. I found that if the loading coil is moved to the bottom, less inductance is needed for resonance. I have used this on 30 and 20 meters with very good results after moving the coil to the bottom. Updated: I have left the PAC-12 in my back yard, two miles from the ocean, for about 5 weeks now. I did notice some rust looking stains on the collapsible antenna part. It got harder to shorten and lengthen so I did a light rub down with WD-40, life was good after that. The antenna is intended for temporary portable operations, but it is good to know that it can withstand longer use. I am very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Good portable HF antenna
Style: JPC-12
Ordered the IPC-12 to use with my Xiegu G90. It was an easy install. It tuned up easy although I had to watch a couple of videos to see how to do it. The manual is not that easy to understand. I was able to make multiple contacts on it very quickly. It is a great choice for the money

  • Very effective antenna for ham radio
Style: JPC-12
Santana has allowed me to reach contacts all over my continent. I admit I have not had any overseas DX contacts, but I’m sure the time will come when it happens. Well worth the money that I spent.

  • Great mobile ham antenna
Style: JPC-12
Such a breeze to setup and takedown. Just use a rubber mallet to set the base spike, twist rods together and away you go. Made contacts across the US from Texas. New to the hobby so not exactly sure what I’m doing.

  • Work.
Style: JPC-12
Not a lot of DX yet, but plenty of POTA contacts. Easy to set up and take down, and it's light.
