The media could not be loaded. This is a four serving, thin ceramic (one is tempted to say bone china) set with a glass carafe that has a bamboo collar for safe usage and ceramic diffuser that includes a serving tray with a spill catch. In terms of how and when to use this, how and when do you want your tea? At work this can be a nice quiet ritual to unwind at your desk or share with colleagues over a meeting. Of course camping, picnics and travel all come to mind as other ways to employ this set. The cups, whose thin quality I made reference to earlier, are quite strong and have a very fine texture on the outside to offer a firm hold. As with most traditional teas there are no handles as you shouldn’t handle anything with your hands that you could not place in your mouth. The glass carafe has a raised blue/green glass surface at the bottom. Whether it is to provide turbulence for the steeping tea as it escapes the diffuser or is simply there to offer a color contrast I cannot say. But it is a point of visual interest to consider while sipping one’s tea. The entire setting and tray store securely in the carrying case and still provides room to store your preferred tea with the set. The case from the outside looks like the classic 1940s-50s cases used for camera equipment and picnic sets, with a stitched brown leather like finish, tight edges, and a handle. In terms of the interior layout, all items are quite tightly stored and have little risk of shatter, though breakage is still a possibility from a drop. The foam material used for storage is thick and similar to packing panels that have been purpose cut for this set. One note of concern, the sticker (bar codes and manufacture information) have a relatively thick layer of adhesive that remains on the case. To avoid discoloring I used a small amount of hand sanitizer (basically wood alcohol in a gel base) to remove the excess adhesives after removing the tags. This seems to have worked without damaging the case. The quality is quite good and the price (33) makes this an attractive option when considering this set as a gifts or an office set for having a civil tea when the world around you seem to have gone mad. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of this travel ready Gong Fu Tea Set with some issues. The Good: 1) The beaker with the blue mountain at the bottom and the bamboo heat shield (removable) is beautiful and seems thick enough for practical use. It's a work of art. This beaker holds 12 fluid ounces. 2) The ceramic brewer is well made with no rough edges. 3) The wooden handle of the lid is a nice elegant touch. 4) The vinyl case is functional and the molded foam well protects the teaware (see photo). 5) The tray is plastic and the top comes off for easy cleaning (see photo). It will initially give off a strong plastic odor, but airs out with time. The Bad: 1) Although there are enough holes at the bottom, I don't think there are enough holes in the sides of the brewer for sufficient water flow for efficient brewing (see photo). 2) There was a large company label and two barcode stickers, one on the top and one on the side that had to be removed from the case and they left a very sticky residue that had to be removed using Goo Gone. The stock photos do not show the stickers. Once removed and cleaned, however, this is a moot issue. The Ugly: 1) My case had a missing pull tab on one of the two zippers (see photo). While I can still open the case with one zipper, the person packing this set should have noticed this flaw and should have changed out the case. Disappointing. 2) The tea cups only hold 1 ounce of fluid. I have multiple Gong Fu Tea Sets (both for home and travel) but these are the smallest tea cups I have ever encountered, therefore, they are not very practical for actual use. I am very familiar with the Chinese tea brewing method and understand that it is very different from Western tea brewing, but a one ounce cup is rather ridiculous. In summary, would I pay $30 for a tea set with these issues? No. But I would pay it if the cups were at least twice the volume and the rest of the issues were remedied. ... show more

    • Neat little tea set and cool looking.
This is a really nice looking tea set and case for all the cups and steeper. I think the steeper that has the mountains in it if very cool. The cups are nice and seam very sturdy. The box is nice too and great for carrying everything.

A beautiful set that would make a perfect gift for any tea lover. I love having this in my collection. My only gripe was that there were stickers placed directly on to the leather (you can see glue residue on the first image) and that was a pain to get off but did some off with some saddle soap eventually without damaging it. ... show more

This makes a wonderful gift and includes everything you would want for a true tea lover. My only complaint is that the labels left a sticky residue which was difficult to remove without marring the finish.
