Overall, the product is incredibly easy to install and works great with a Smart-Things hub. I had a few issues that I will go into below, however they were all self-inflicted and not something that should count against the product. I'm very happy with the product so far. Here are my 'cons' with the product. Take these with a grain of salt because they are minor and wouldn't prevent me from buying the product again in the future: 1) The 1st unit I received had to be returned due to being defective. I called tech support *twice* to troubleshoot and they concluded they I had a bad tilt sensor. Turns out, that there was no problem. The issue was that I didn't have the back cover attached to the tilt sensor during my testing. I told tech support multiple times on each call that the device was in my hand and that I was able to push the little button on the PCB, because I didn't want to stick it to my door until I verified it worked properly. They should have picked up on the fact the back wasn't on the sensor, but didn't. When I received my replacement unit and had the exact same issue, I figured the issue had to be *me* somehow. I noticed the status for the tilt sensor would update when I tapped the button on the PCB and in a moment of pure frustration, I held down the button as I clicked the app on my phone to open/shut the door. Things worked! It was then that I took a closer look at the back plate and noticed that it would push in the button when attached. If GoControl reads this, I would strongly recommend that you update your Troubleshooting steps paperwork in the box to have the user verify the back is on the tilt sensor before use. I can't be the only person to want to verify functionality before I permanently attaching something to my ceiling/garage door/etc. 2) Alexa will tell me if my door is open/closed, however it will not shut/open the door for me. I feel like I should be able to say "Alexa, shut the garage door". I view this as a limitation (or security concern) within Alexa, so I'm not about to remove any stars for it. One thing I would love to be able to change about the device would be the 'beeping delay' before the door closes. I think it beeps for about 5 seconds. It'd be nice to have that be configurable so that I could cut that in half. It's just a bit annoying to hear it beep for so long. Again, this is likely a safety issue so I understand why they have this configured like they do, but I'd still like to override it. ... show more

    • Won't work with Chamberlain MyQ
Turns out I have a Chamberlain MyQ opener. It is not compatable with this type of Opener (confirmed with customer support), so I will be returning. The direct wiring into Chamberlain didn't work. The controller responds to zwave commands, however it does not interact properly with the wire connections on the base unit (where wall remote connects). It just makes a clicking sound, and nothing happens. I did some research, and saw a hack on youtube, where you can direct wire this unit into your spare remote control. It does require two drops of solder on the back of the remote control board. I tried that, and while it did work in agressive testing - when you give it some time, it would not work. Seems the remote mabye times out and doesn't respond properly the inbound single. Anyhow, Nexx Garage door opener (WIfI) claims to have an adapter that essentially does the same thing (direct wire into an RF remote that you can pair to the MyQ). That might work better if you're interested in getting something working with MyQ unit. I'm a big Smartthings guy, and it looks like Nexx smartthings integration is not great, so not an option for me. Looks like I'll have to just use a Tilt Sensor, and I can use MyQ phone app and ITFFF to do some conditional activities in smartthings. I still give the the product 4 stars as it was responsive to Zwave Commands, and installed easy and the Smarthings Intergration worked great. ... show more

Bought 2 of these for my garages. Very easy to install with excellent instructions. Very high quality and had no issues pairing with full functionality with my Qolsys Alarm.com system. I had to return 1 because it would not work with my Liftmaster Myq opener. I did try to wire it to the wall switch solder contacts, and it did work well for a few days, before my 880lmw wall switch stopped functioning and began to open and close door randomly! The other unit continues to function perfectly with my non myq Liftmaster unit. ... show more

    • Caution! Incompatible with MyQ products.
I purchased this to go with a Chamberlain RJO101MC opener. It would not work. I contacted support. I was told it DOES NOT work with Chamberlain or Liftmaster products with MyQ wireless technology. Those openers communicate from the wall panel and motor in such a way that this z-wave remote will not work. Since that's most openers on the market, this item is kinda limited in its use. ... show more

The product itself is well built, easy to put it in place. However, Vera hub detects in incorrectly. There are no instructions in the box on pairing with Vera, there are no instructions on the site. Unfortunately, if you try to google it - there is nothing as well. I was lucky that I decided to check Q&A in this item on Amazon - someone posted answer here, but it took some time to me to get to that point. The main complaint that their web site suggests provides technical support email. I wrote there and now, 5 days later, there is still no reply. Not even a simple acknowledgement of my request received. I'm putting 3 stars because the product is well built, but in case of issues you're on your own. I hope I won't need to check how their warranty works. ... show more

    • Once it was working, been great
It's ZWave and automates well. I have it in some of my home routines, like close the garage door when we set things to away, etc. It was difficult to set up as the manual was pretty vague and it's hard to tell who to blame on this one. Once I finally got it going, it has been amazing and recommend it. Works well with ADT, which they recommend. ... show more
