  • sawing requires a lot of physical energy.
I read one reviewer claim that the sawing didn't actually require sawing. Of course it requires sawing. The sawing consists of 4 activities. One must start off in the FREE PLAY mode, and not in the TOURNAMENT mode. In my opinion, one should start off at the easy difficulty setting to feel comfortable with each mini-game. It's pretty simple to win a trophy in all events in the easy mode in my opinion. After completing the EASY mode, you will then go on to the medium mode and complete all of the activities. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK NEW CHARACTERS. The tournament mode will NOT unlock new characters. after this, of course you progress to the hard mode and complete the Tournament. Sawing-consists of 4 activities with 3 different difficulty settings. Sawing requires a lot of super-fast Wiimote waggling at the Hard mode. Axe Throwing- 3 events with 3 difficulty settings. point, aim and click type of game. Chopping- mimic the on screen indicator. ex. press A, button 1,2,1,A and then CHOP.etc. kind of relaxing. a lot of button pushing with a chop at the end. chopping occurs maybe every 5-8 seconds with 4 mini-games. Water events- reminds me off Frogger. 2 fun arcade type events. Climbing- requires a lot of Wiimote-waggling, but it gets tougher at the hard level because you have to waggle and avoid balloons being dropped at the same time. Pole Climbing is very frustrating at the hard level. Overall, I'd say for the price, Lumberjacks is a steal. ... show more

  • Great Family Fun
I bought this game on a whim, and was totally surprised at how much fun the game is. We have fun playing two-player, and the action can be quite hillarious. There are several things I like about this game: (A) Getting into a game (or a tournament of games) is trivially easy, and unlike many other similar games, they don't make you wait for ever, nor do you have to navigate through a bunch of lame, tedious filler to get to the core of the fun. (B) The games are fun. They are not earth-shattering, nor even unique. Some involve aiming, some timing, some about pressing button sequences quickly, some about how quickly you can jostle the controller. But the games are varied and fun, especially in competition with others. You can "free play" through the games, you can choose from small, medium or large tournaments (the large cycles through all of the available games). (C) You can choose between 3 skill levels. All of the games are inherently 4 player, so the computer plays the empty slots, and the computer's competence is determined by the skill level you chose. While most of the games themselves are the same at the different skill settings (the computer players just get better), a few of the games get intrinsically harder based on the skill setting. I'm a hard-core, old-school arcade gamer, so I can still beat the computer in most of the games on the the hard level, only one or two are crazy-difficult on the hard skill level, while the easiest level lets everyone enjoy the game. A fun, satisfying family game, especially for the money. ... show more

  • silly fun
This game is not complicated or in-depth - it's even fairly mindless and repetitive - but it is fun for awhile and the characters are pretty funny. The worst thing about it is that the controls for many games are the same as others, so you're essentially playing the same games over and over with different graphics. If you mix it up and use both the controller and the balance board you can create a more varied game experience. This game isn't winning any awards but for the super low price you can get it for, it's very worth it. ... show more

  • Lots of fun!
I was looking for a game that my 4 year old grandson could play that didn't involve super skills or killing people. Lumberjack fits the bill and he loves it. Since he has 4 year old reading skills I needed to play as well to get him started but it wasn't long before he didn't need much help. I found it to be great fun to play, too! If you are a true "gamer", as they say, and are looking for a real challenge this game is probably not going to satisfy you but if you are looking for just plain fun then this game will fit the bill nicely. And since my grandson talked me into letting him take the game home with him I will be purchasing another one before he comes back to visit in a couple of weeks. I highly recommend! ... show more

  • I love this game!
This game is so much fun to play. It is very simple, but there are a lot of different activities and some even get your heart racing!! (Such as the climb and cut.) I got 3 wii games for Christmas, this was the most inexpensive one by $20 and is by and far my favorite. It is fun to play alone, but even more fun against other people. You can use your wii balance board if you want, but I don't find it necessary. I would recommend this as a fun, yet simple game for the whole family. There are directions on every game screen so you can always reference them. ... show more

  • Lum-BORING-jack
What a tedious, boring game. I purchased this based on the few (6) good reviews on Amazon at the time, all were 5-star ratings. Talk about the dangers of a small sample size. Why so boring? None of the games requires any meaningful skill, and so there is no challenge. For instance, the sawing is just moving the controller back and forth. The pole climb is just moving the controller back and forth and pushing an occasional button. On and on. In short, there is no challenge and so there's nothing to improve at. If I were to saw every day for a year, I would be no better than I am today. I'm very confused by how anyone could find this fun or interesting. I'll admit, we have not unlocked all the games, but I don't know what it takes to unlock those. It appears to require playing the boring games more often, and I'm afraid that's just too high a price to pay to see what those unlocked games are all about. Perhaps some people enjoy mindless, no skill games, but it's just not for me. ... show more
