  • Clever all in one unit
My backup modem for international travel is made by GlocalMe so that motivated me to try this international plug/wifi hot spot mashup. It doesn't cover the entire world's power outlet formats but it hits most of them. It's a pretty handy configuration--you've got a USB-A port, three USB-C ports and the power outlet on front of the device. Another thing I liked is the quality construction. Sure, you can find travel plug adapters for a few dollars but I'd rather invest in quality and not have my laptop fried by a poorly constructed device that wasn't built for purpose. The wifi obviously has limitations since it only supports 4G. In the US, 4G data is laughably slow but that's not the fault of this device. As you're no doubt aware, you'll find better 4G data infrastructure in most European and Asian countries but the bandwidth is still nothing great. That's why people who travel internationally and need a fast, dependable Internet connection have all upgraded to 5G. It's still not as good as a decent wifi connection but it is some improvement. You do get the vibe that the power adapter functionality is well implemented. Take it from someone who travels extensively--if you have any type of decent electronic products you don't want to entrust them to a bargain basement adapter. That said, this is an well made and interesting combo product. It's probably geared more toward casual tourists than power users but for what it is it works well. Recommended. ... show more

  • Not Great UI or Features
The User Interface (UI) of this device is not exactly user-friendly, and although its hot spot does work, it's slow, kludgy, not very secure and just not great. One of the most annoying things about this device is its Manual, which tries to be all things to all languages... cramming all languages together in every part of it, in SUPER TINY print... The only REASONABLE way to read the manual is to go over to the Vendor site and grab one from there in your preferred langauge. But even after reading the manual and fully understanding how the unit works... there's still plenty of room for disappointment here. -- HOTSPOT is woefully difficult to get working securely and well -- HOTSPOT is SLOW... at top speeds, it's only going to get up to just over 15Mbps -- HOTSPOT has no power... it either needs to be plugged in, or can use an external power block reverse feeding its USB-C port -- eSIM mobile plan on the hotspot seems to get used up faster than true data usage, which makes me wonder how they're calculating data usage, or if it's just an arbitrary algorithm designed to deplete faster, and sell more data? The Global Plugs are nice... for most of EU, UK and USA, but if you plan to be traveling to other places where there are other plugs/outlets, you might be out of luck. There's an overload protection FUSE in this device, so it's probably a good idea to travel with a spare fuse or two in your bag... just in case. Lastly, I'd say that the price tag for this device doesn't really fit with its features. If it were a truly well-done HotSpot, then it might. But travel plugs are available for ~ $10, so if that's this unit's primary usable feature... it's way over-priced. And as a hotspot, it just does not meet the bar of truly useful, being cumbersom to operate; insecure; lacking a battery; non-competitive data plans. Thus, best I could do for this would be about 2.5 out of 5... rouding up to 3 ... show more

  • nice full function travel adapter
nice full function travel adapter that also convert power voltage. It is little heavy compare to the one that have no power converter but it is expected. Still very compact to travel with. Nice. Don't have a chance to use the Oversea wifi service yet and will update once I travel and install the app. ... show more
