  • Great Value
Style: Two remotes & Keypad
Bought this to replace my 31 year old Overhead Door unit (got my money's worth out of that!). Straightforward installation which took 3 hours, good instructions, it helped that I was able to use previous wiring. Only delay was figuring control unit mounting, but had enough parts to pull it off. It is quieter, works fine, and I'm happy to have a battery backup. Even if it needs maintenance or even replacement after a few years its a great value! UPDATE 9/6. I liked the first one so much I bought a second to replace the other garage door opener, it was an even easier install the second time. I had trouble getting the program button to work on the first unit, contacted Genie customer support, and they gave me a work around (take the cover off and press the button on the circuit board). That worked, but they went above and beyond and without prompting shipped me a new unit cover to fix the button alignment. Great customer support! ... show more

  • Genie garage door opener
Style: Two remotes & Keypad
Quiet motor. Battery backup included. Works great. Key pad access is wireless and easy to setup. Have not tried cell app remote yet. Older access remotes not compatible. Inside garage wired button has wireless lockout that blocks all remote wireless access. Very handy if remotes left in car overnight. ... show more

  • Works better than I expected, great value
Style: Two remotes & Keypad
When I opened this unit up I almost returned it when I saw how small the DC motor was. It is about half the size of the old induction motor in the unit which I replaced because the optical sensors were not working and it had no remotes anymore. This kit is complete, has good paper directions and web videos available, good job! I cheated and taped the optical sensors together just so I could get it going, as usual it took longer than it should have because I am not the sharpest pencil in the box. The light weight of the head unit is really appreciated when you are on a ladder mounting the unit. Finished assembly and, WOW, what difference, plenty of power and soooo smooth. It even has a soft close function. Even with the optical sensors taped together the pressure sensor is just perfect, the lightest touch and it reverses yet never false triggers. Great electronics. The remotes are amazing, the inside switch has many functions, the best is where you can disable the remotes with small slide switch. You get 2 remotes and a outside remote wall mount (no wires!) with a keypad that you set to your code. I also tried out the battery backup, works great and is a nice feature to have if your power goes out. Good value and well thought out unit. The smoothness and power still amaze me in this small package, this old school guy got schooled! ... show more

  • So far this Genie is as good as other brands I've owned
Style: One remote & surge protector
Garage door openers are one of those decisions that are expensive and hard to change and also hard to know what reviews to believe so here is my two cents with lots of detail. Overall I give this Genie (model 7305) 4 of 5 stars. I have had Craftsman and Chamberlain before and I would not choose them over a Genie or a Genie over them. Overall what I like: I am pleasantly surprised at how quiet this chain drive is compared to my previous Chamberlain that was also chain drive. I like that this Genie comes with a surge suppressor and a battery backup unit. Neither have been put to a test yet though, and I will probably still add an additional APC unit since a power surge is what damaged parts of my previous opener and ended its service. Installation: The instructions are good IF you are a solid DIY-er and have a healthy tool set. If not hire someone and factor in that cost. There are good YouTube videos out there to supplement or replace the in-box instructions, but missteps can still happen. Mine was I initially put the bullet turnbuckle on the wrong side of the chain and did not catch it until after I had mounted the entire unit. Correcting that mistake without being able to lay everything out on a long flat surface and with gravity working against me and the heavy chain cost me an aggravating hour. With all this and in total I did mine alone and in a day and a half BUT I also had to repair some wood studs, re-did and reinforced all the wall and ceiling mounting and re-did all wires running to and from the control pad and the sensors. Speaking of that wire – the box may not provide enough depending on your garage. It’s inexpensive to buy more but I had extra from a previous install. Just know you may need to make a trip to the hardware store. Genie’s box should have had more than enough since I wired the first sensor to the second and then ran only one wire from the second back to the motor unit (yes, you can to that – just keep the sides of your wires consistent). This saves some wire and some time as opposed to running both sensor wires back to the motor. Speaking of the motor: The Genie 7035 is rated at ¾ horsepower which is a reason I chose it over ½ horsepower options. Is it really ¾ power and how does the industry accurately measure these? I don’t know. I can only say my garage door is a two-car insulated aluminum and this Genie opens and closes it without a struggle and quickly enough for me. Programming: It was a pain in the rear to get the “Home Link” buttons in our two 2004 Toyota Sienna mini-vans re-programmed. To be fair this might be the first garage door opener I have owned that has “rolling code” security - and our mini-vans are older. For them I followed the owner’s manual directions to clear out the old programming. Then I followed the directions to program the new code. It works provided you can find the third mandatory and hard to find step – go to the Genie motor unit and press and release the “program” button until the light starts blinking purple, then return to your Sienna and press the chosen home link button three times with just the right speed of repetition. It took me an hour and a half to get this right on the first Sienna and then about 5 minutes for the second. The GMC Acadia was quicker since I had learned the lesson and knew what to expect. Now – I also have a “Clicker Universal” programmable keypad for outside the garage. I have more than an hour and a half into trying to get that re-programmed and still don’t have it working. So overall I am satisfied this Genie was a good choice and value provided it gives me long service. ... show more

  • Seems solid and very quiet
Style: Two remotes & Keypad
Our old door opener was nearly 30 years old, so time to replace it. I hired someone to install the new unit taking him (working alone mind you) about five hours part to complete of which required taking out the old unit. The new Genie unit seems pretty solid and well made. It's also very quiet. I mean really quiet. The garage is under a large bedroom and you could always hear the old unit when in use. Not not, you can't hear a thing. So far we're pretty happy. Oh, you do have to purchase your own bulbs. I suggest the Genie shielded LED also available through Amazon. ... show more

  • Easy Installation & So Quiet
Style: Two remotes & Keypad
Glad I made this purchase. Chain driven but quiet. The instructions were so easy with voices step-by-step instructions. Literally, a child could do it. This unit is so quiet compared to my old one. My only issue is why didn’t I replace my old garage door opener sooner.
