  • Poor mechanical design and unusable for my application
The mounting brackets don't clear the GPIO header so you absolutely cannot plug a 40-pin gable onto the GPIO header once the product is installed. Very disappointing to assemble and get the mechanical preparations like the spaces done, then go to use and not be able to hook up..

  • An amazing little CPU cooler
I bought this specifically to overclock my Raspberry Pi 4 so that it could be a decent retrogaming console for my wife. I've been building my own gaming PCs for almost 30 years, so she's very familiar with CPU coolers. When I showed this to her, her reaction was "OMG, it so cute!" But behind the cuteness are some amazing cooling capabilities. The cooling fan wasn't difficult to install. The kit includes everything that you need to secure it to the RP4, including a precision screwdriver and a plastic mounting plate. Once the fan is connected to a 5V (or 3.3V) power source, it starts up as soon as the PR4 is turned on. I installed it as per instructions with one main difference: I used Arctic Silver 5 instead of the stock thermal stickers, which in general are okay but usually inferior. After it was assembled, I decided to stress test it by overclocking my RP4 to CPU at 1.95 GHz, GPU at 600 MHz, and V3D at 750 MHz, and then ran a process to calculate prime numbers on all four cores. With all four overclocked cores running at 100%, CPU temperatures stayed within 27-30°C, even after several minutes, which is amazing. And before anyone asks, the RGB LEDs cannot be controlled; they cycle through different colors. The only connections on the fan are positive and negative power cables. That's it. So if you have any possibility of overclocking an RP4, this is definitely the cooler to get. I already plan on getting another RP4 and even if I don't overclock it (who am I kidding? I definitely will), this fan will be installed with it. ... show more

Ok so I watched eta primes video on these hence how I found it but wow I have my pi4 overclocked to 2ghz and ran a stress test for over an hour with this cooler on it and it reached a max temp of 52 degrees Celsius with a base running temp between 30-32 ambient room temp is 75 for the tests so color me impressed and a happy customer ... show more

  • Actually works as promised...lighted fan looks amazing.
Love this cooler! Works as advertised although on the pi 4 the fitment is a little snug (not really a bad thing honestly). Real world results: overclocked pi to 2.0Ghz core clock, over voltage to 6 and GPU clock to 750 MHz. Ran sysbench to max load the system and with this cooler the pi never reached over 50.0 degrees C. Now running simultaneous projects and heat is no issue! 10/10 will buy again for my next pi. Note: no cases available to house the pi with this cooler (that I could find) so I 3D printed my own. ... show more

  • Great cooler. But...
This little thing is pretty nice. It does a great job of cooling the processor. The flaw with the design is that it really needs to be turned 90 degrees. The cooling tubes stick out over the graphics chip making it impossible to put any cooling on it as well. Overall a great product, but I am a little disappointed in the design. ... show more

  • The Pi Is in the Fridge!
Can't believe I bought a cooler with RGB lights but here it is. Like all on my computers, if I am now actually sitting in front of it, then it's running some distributed-processing app like the old seti. I use 100% of available processors 85% of the time. The color is supposed to indicate temperature and its all blue and green. Just checked a temperature sensor in the Pi and its reading 47 C. Sounds pretty good to me. The mounting is interesting. There is a translucent plastic plate that is held below the motherboard by standoff screws which attach to standoff plugs on the top of the motherboard. Two oddly shaped pieces of metal attach to the bottom of the tower and can be arranged in several ways. For example, I have one tower attached in what I assume is the "default" position that leaves the GPIO pins wide open and another turned the opposition direction so that the ribbon cable for a camera can run forwards or backwards while still leaving the GPIO pins accessible. These metal pieces have holes on their ends that fit over the threaded top of standoffs and are held down using small nuts. The tower comes with one extra standoff, screw for bottom plate, and nut for the top standoff. It also includes three small "thermal pads." I wasn't thrilled and didn't want to stack them to get good contact but then I had to remove a tower from one Pi that had to be returned and saw that it did have indentations from being squeezed between the CPU and base of the tower. BTW, the bottom is not a miracle of machining tolerances. The heat pipes were not completely flush with the metal block that formed the base but I could see impressions in the pad for not only the heat tubes but the outline of the block. As I said - 41 C at 85% full load for 24/7 so I'd say it was doing its job (this is for the one that was removed and reinstalled with a fresh thermal pad). ... show more

  • Just enough clearance
This also works with an RPi3 if you bend the mount arms a bit, as the CPU lacks a heat spreader, so sits closer to the PCB. I got this specifically because it attaches to the mount holes in the RPi, does not block access to any headers (DSI video, camera, GPIO, etc), and looked like it would fit while mounted to the common 4"/5" DSI touchscreens (it just barely does!). I flipped the fan to suck air through the heatsink, as I had it mounted on 'top' and wanted to pull in cooler air from the bottom. While the kit does come with a few thermal pads, I chose to bend the mount arms slightly so the copper heat pipe would make direct contact with the RPi3's CPU. Overall, this took the (default clock) idle temp from ~50C average down to ~40C average. Pros: + proper heat sink with copper heat pipe + comes with a lot of screws and snadoffs (and spares) + fan screws on + mounts to RPi's mount holes + doesn't block any I/O access + fan works on the 3.3v pin Cons: - doesn't cover any other chips - quite large (comparatively) - doesn't fit well with RPi3 (bend arms, use smaller standoffs, or copper shims to compensate) - bright color lights fan (why waste the power?) ... show more
