i was looking for something different and this fits very well perfect fit and completely amazed with the quality. i put a Noctua NF-A4x10 5V fan on this, i never even tried the stock fan - i dont like RGB fans i had to remove the heatsinks on ram, USB, and eth but thats ok. i also got a 2x20 40 pin cable and a header extension to move things away from the board i use a canakit Rpi4B and just removed the top cover. everything still fits inside the housing. ... show more

Works great for cooling a Raspberry Pi 4. I opted for this over the taller version mostly because I liked the potential for more heat pipe contact with the two separate 5mm heat pipes running through the cpu block vs. the single pipe in the tall version (https://www.amazon.com/GeeekPi-Raspberry-Cooling-Cooler-Heatsink/dp/B07V35SXMC). Setup: I took a dremel with polishing bit and polished the area of the heatsink that contacts the cpu on the rPi, and polished the top of the rPi cpu (probably was not necessary, but I already had the dremel out). I also applied a slight bend to the mounting brackets as to force the heatsink down a little more on the cpu. I only used the mounting plate and hardware provided with the heatsink. Did not use the included thermal pads, I used some silicone thermal paste I had laying around (it was Phanteks PH-NDC). Conditions: Ambient temperatures around 21C, powered with an rPi official USB-C power supply. Temperatures: Running stock settings, at 100% cpu usage temperatures remained under 34C for the 15 minutes I let it run. Using tom's hardware guide as reference overclocked to 2GHz (0.5GHz overclock) and over-voltage (0.15V) the cpu and ran at 100% usage for 20 minutes, temperatures never exceeded 44C. Compared to the stock 80C+ reviews out there for no heatsink, and people being happy with 60C+ with a fan, I consider these temperatures great! Cons: If there was one thing I could change, I probably would replace the fan, the color cycling is meh, and the brightness is borderline annoying, mine will probably get replaced with a less flashy fan at some point in the near future. ... show more

This is a great cooling fan for the PI4. I was able to overclock to 2.100 GHz. With the fan running at 5 volts, the PI never gets above 60 degrees even when fully stressed an all cores. The stock PI wouldn’t even do that at stock frequencies. The case is one I got on Etsy from the EsotericAvenue store. It provides great protection for the PI. ... show more

I am very happy with the ability to overclock my PI 4 and still maintain low temps. Used a good heatsink compound instead of the included thermal pads. Was a little concerned about the amount of contact with the CPU die so I ground a little off the standoffs to increase the heatsink to CPU pressure. You could probably achieve the same results using the thermal pads but I did not test it that way. The cooler design allows the air flow to cool the GPU too. OC'd as well. ;) (For the OC haters; It's a hobby!) I run this PI from an SSD drive that's plugged into a usb 3 port instead of from the SD card. Between that and the overclock, this thing is nearly as fast as some budget laptops. Designed for the enthusiast. Probably overkill if you run at stock speeds. Looks cool with the RGB fan. I would buy it again for future PI projects ... show more

I'm very pleased with this cooler. My board tolerates no moe than a 2.0 Ghz overclock. I haven't seen the temps go higher than high 50 degrees with the fan powered at 3.3 volts. At 5 volts I was seeing ~2 degrees lower temps, which was not much of a difference, so I decided to keep it set to 3.3. I haven't run a stress test, just real-world, everyday usage with ~10 Chromuim tabs including Gmail, YouTube, etc., and Firefox with Facebook all running concurrently. Average is mid-40s. I've read that others doubled up on the thermal pads, but I used just one, and it was thick enough for the heatsink to make full contact with the pad. I've attached the Geeekpi set-top box extension board to my Pi, and I was able to use the standoffs and acrylic base from that kit. The only standoffs I used from the Ice Tower kit were those used to mount the tower brackets to the Pi. ... show more

  • An Overclocking must.

I've played with SBC's for years now. Before I never had a need to overclock. But my current project calls for some real processing. I got a pi 4 8gb and have it overclocker to 2.1GHz. Working with off line ai assistant models can be very power thirsty. Even on a full pc's. This has kept everything very cool. It hasn't gone above 42c and we are talking real time observed speech pattern breakdown. Well worth it, I also have this for my Jetson nano. Great product. Wish it had a lower profile. But you can only do so much before you get in the way of other connections. ... show more

I made a mock heatsink once for a pi to look like a PC cooling tower. So glad to see someone finally released the real thing as a marketable and affordable solution to the hotter pies! these look incredible, and although much bulkier than other solutions, if you have the space these will guarantee to keep your pi running cool. for normal to average use you don't even need to run the fan. even under mild load WITHOUT the fan it never hits thermal throttling. Bought this to go on my PI 4 I use with my ham radio gear. Always had trouble with it throttling for heat when I was using digital modes and the PI to decode all the traffic. Had heat sinks and fans before and it just didn't seem to help much. Temps with no load with fans and heat sinks prior to this were 49C. Once I installed this, my no load temps were 32C. Even loaded up with digital modes and compiling, I haven't seen anything over 37C yet...and typically it's 33-34C loaded up with my apps. Great addition to my PI 4 to keep it from overheating and make it usable in my ham shack. ... show more
