Description

Gecko Run takes classic marble runs to the next level with new creative challenges and less restrictive building requirements. This innovative marble run uses a specially designed system of flexible tracks that does not require any support structures. Traditional marble runs require lots of pieces to create vertical height, but with Gecko Run, your doors, windows, cupboards, bookcases – virtually any smooth surface – become part of your track, allowing you to build higher with fewer pieces. Attach the tracks to surfaces with the help of clever nano pads, which work like nanoscopic suction cups, to create a strong, but temporary bond. Because the pads are not glue-based, they can be quickly and easily repositioned many times without any damaging adhesives or sticky residue. A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth will keep your pads ready for action! The versatile tracks are made from renewable, durable, and sustainably sourced raw materials. Thanks to their wide range of motion and flexibility, you can create hills and jumps, and even turn corners to generate a limitless number of tricks and stunts. No two tracks are ever the same! Each unique configuration promotes hands-on experimentation, supports problem- solving through trial-and-error, develops motor skills, and encourages creativity for kids and their grownups! The Gecko Run Starter Set includes everything you need to zip, zag, bounce, skip, and hurdle into an awesome engineering adventure. A 16-page illustrated manual guides you through setting up your first runs and teaches you how all the different elements work. Witness physics in action! Use independently or combine with any of the expansion packs.

  • um great....but READ the AGE RECOMMENDATION... wish Amazon would put it in the item name
edit: the 8 year olds I worked with ADORED this and the 5 year olds.... some were able to figure it out and found it really interesting!!! Others kind of struggled with how it worked and gave up and lost interest relatively quickly. And found another play choice in our space. I didn't have a ton of time to walk them through it and I didn't have that many track/etc/materials for each child but. But plenty loved this! The good: I have merely tried sticking 2 connectors, a track, and a catcher to my glass sliding door to my patio and it worked great! I was thrilled. It was kinda fun as a 31 year old assistant teacher and leader of an after school care program! The bad/surprising: I was absolutely NOT read for how FAST this marble run can potentially go if you curve the bendable tracks. It can go really, really fast. Maybe that's a benefit to some. Not really here. I work with ages 5 to 8, but MOSTLY at the 5ish age range... some kids can be really sensitive to stimulus and overwhelmed so the QUITE FAST and NOISY, as well, nature of this marble run was something I was not expecting and am not particularly pleased with. Also, something about the nature of this toy is pretty hard, honestly. Predicting where the potentially fast marble is going to go next and using your imagination and guessing to figure out where the next track goes is hard. Even for a grown adult. I'm going to try to put this out for some 5 year olds and the brighter and more mature of them but I have a feeling it won't go so good. I see a return of this product in my future. A shame I'll probably end up having to return it because as soon as I saw this thing I thought "Wow!" Because I'm always looking for toys with suction cups for glass doors. I was a pre-k teacher for ages. Kids love that type of toy beyond words and it also makes what was previously a ONE USE and almost useless part of a room (just a glassdoor for only exiting) in to a play space which is useful. Ugh. Hope this works out. Maybe I"ll update it. I could see a 12 year old losing his mind over this. But yeah. Probably not for young ones. Oh, and because it's so fast you could maybe lose marbles and even do so quickly, unfortunately. Ugh. ... show more

  • Great if you have truly smooth walls
This is so cool! My kids love it but it needs Very smooth surfaces. None of my walls were smooth enough.

  • Good set; needs better adhesive solution
This set is very fun. The variety a pieces is great for a child. The sticky pads don’t hold up very well, which was disappointing.

  • Worst toy ever
Nano stickers. They will restick over and over... no they won't. This is a bunch of useless plastic pieces to not have any fun with..tried the wondow. Tried metal. Tried rhe wall..Tried every combination of press and hold and none of it stuck. This was a very expensive piece of crap.. all the pieces and directions were followed and present. This is the worsr marble run I have dealt with and I have all brands.of marble maze. Were marble crazy! Not for this one..I thought oh these are probably held by suction cups. Held by magnets. Held by something logical..nope stickers that don't stick.. so.many stickers that don't stick. I feel like it was a one time use marble maze but didn't even work the one time. Definitely expected at a place like dollar tree not a toy that was almost 30 dollars. Never ever ever will I buy this brand again. ... show more

  • Not as sticky as advertised
I want to preface this with I did NOT scrub surfaces with more than a soapy washcloth before starting this process, but some of the pieces just don’t stick well. Because of the scientific nature of this toy, there is a lot of trial and error with moving the track around. By the 3rd or 4th move, the funnel piece fell every time the marble went into it. It was a little too risky for me to put on the sliding glass door being it uses a metal marble….I can almost see the spider web cracking now….BUT I bet it would stick better on there than my refrigerator. Overall, my daughter still has a good time playing with this and rebuilding the tracks however play usually ends because of lack of sticking pieces. ... show more

  • Great gift
Got for my daughter. She looks playing with it. Easy to use and set up. Sticks to glass verywell

  • cheap. doesn't work very well
Even on surfaces that are recommended (clean glass), it doesn't stick very well at all. It will dismantle itself as even the included marbles go down. The tops of the chutes aren't high enough, so if there's a bit too much speed, they will jump out. We messed with this for about an hour and gave up. Couldn't even get a single complete run in. Either jumped the track or fell apart in the process. ... show more
