  • GEARWRENCH 6 Pc. Flex Flare Nut Wrench, Metric - 81911D Works as intended
Size: 6-piece kit Style: METRIC
the ability to flex this flare wrench was worth the money of $96.25. great product, seems to be very well made.

  • Excellent set, no regrets, would buy it again! 6 pieces better than Snap-on's 5pc set, and all for a fraction of the price!
Size: 6 Piece Style: SAE
Excellent set! Very nice and shiny chrome, definitely can withstand major torque. The wrenches feel really nice in your hand, nice and heavy, but not overly so. Engraving is nice, could be a little deeper, but hey, it does the job and there are no issues with me not being able to clearly see the size. Just a comment. :) When I compared this set to my Snap-on metric flare nut set, the only difference I noted was in the smallest and largest wrenches. The smallest wrench is just that - small - about an inch shorter, and noticeably smaller in hand. The largest wrench actually compares very well, but it's only about half an inch shorter than Snap-ons, if that. However, this Gearwrench set is a 6 piece set, whereas Snap on's flare nut set is only 5 pieces, so you do the math. Overall, I would definitely buy this set again and skip the SAE by Snap-on. This set doesn't disappoint, very happy here!!! ... show more

  • Tight spot? These tools will help
Size: 6-piece kit Style: METRIC
If you turn wrenches for a living, a set of flare nut wrenches or crows foot can get you out of some tough situations easily. This set of Gearwrench flare nut wrenches does you one better by adding a flex head to each end of the wrenches. Some folks prefer the fixed head version of these wrenches due to their dislike of flex head wrenches but I haven't had any issues with them. In fact the flex head design gives the tool a greater versatility when working in areas that are restricted, such as working on brake lines and small hydraulic fittings where many times, a straight wrench simply will not access. The finish and overall quality of these wrenches are good and this set covers all of the sizes of line fittings I have dealt with. The flex heads have enough friction to keep the heads from flopping around on you and the case that comes with this set is perfect for sticking straight into the tool box drawer to help keep you organized. This set is well worth the investment and Will save you lots of frustration from rounding off small fittings. ... show more

  • Good wrenches, but the flex flops around.
Size: 6-piece kit Style: METRIC
Bought these for a bunch of Brake line recalls at work. Need a 10mm line wrench. These work well. The 12mm sides flex loosened up and just flops around now. Set screw seems to be stripped so I can't get an Allen in there to tighten it up. Wish they'd use a flex design like on the 3/8 ratchet I have from gearwrench. Only used the one so far but seem like good wrenches. Just don't like the floppy 12 ... show more

  • More happy with these than I thought I would be
Size: 6-piece kit Style: METRIC
I have other cheaper sets of flare nut wrenches/line wrenches but I was really unhappy with them. Most cheap sets have thin handles and heads which causes nuts to be way more likely to strip and on the handle side half of them dig deep into your knuckles and hurt to use by the time you're finishing a brake line job. First time I used these I managed to pretty easily swap out a brake soft line that I was almost positive would turn into also doing a hard line job due to the amount of rust on the hardware. The flex feature I wasn't really sold on, but it actually works pretty well. I haven't busted a knuckle yet due to it flexing instead of going the direction I want it to. ... show more

  • Love/hate these wrenches!
Size: 5-piece kit Style: SAE
It's a good thing these came out to only $12 per wrench.. First the good: These are great looking wrenches and they sure fit the bill for when you've got a tight angled fastener to get to. The plating on them is great and they are quite beefy. I didn't encounter any issues with the sizes, they all seem to fit appropriately on the correct size fasteners. Gearwrench seems to have learned a thing or two with these; the narrow edges of the wrenches have a nice radius and don't beat up your hands like the ratcheting Gearwrench set I have with hard edges. And then the bad: There is no consistency on how the heads of these wrenches flex. Some are loose and floppy, and some bind up and require two hands to bend the head. It looks as though there's an Allen-head adjustment screw on one side of each head, but when I tried turning the screw with a good quality Allen wrench, the screw head just stripped. You would think Gearwrench knew how to give the heads detents to click through. The molded case these come in is a big, useless hunk of plastic I threw in the recycle bin. It's too tall to put in a short toolbox drawer, and there's no lid on it either. Maybe they are closeout pricing them to make way for a better product? The set I bought came to only $12 per wrench, so it's not a bad price even with the problems; I just expected more from a Gearwrench product. ... show more
