  • Simply the most advanced preamplifier you can buy
Color: Black Pattern Name: TV Antenna
Within last few years I've owned and used most known amplifiers in the market : Winegard LNA-200, RCA TVPRAMP1Z , Channel Master Titan and an old Archer with adjustable gain. Some of these had select-able FM-trap. Being an engineer; I'm very through with my antenna positioning, gain setup, components I use etc. With digital TV broadcasting, there are two parameters that we deal: signal level (strength) and signal quality. At my location (using above mentioned different amplifiers); I didn't have a problem with signal level. It's the random drops on signal quality that I suffered on certain few channels (UHF 38, 39 and 48). As you know; we experience this as "pixelation", dropped audio/video. I tried all variables available to me; gain, positioning, different amplifiers. Nothing helped with such random quality drops. My tuner shows two separate bars for signal level and quality. While both of them at perfect 100%; suddenly you start getting hits at signal quality - then after a while you return to perfect signal. It's nothing to do with weather, as I had them in all kind of weather. The first step was switching to this GE amplifier. It's really ultra-low noise, that I can receive more channels at much better condition (compared to others - which some of them are at 3X cost). The product is made for GE by a Taiwanese company called Jasco. If you look at their web site; they OEM manufacture high quality electronic accessories for companies as Philips and GE. Interestingly; no numerical technical info is available for specs. They only mention "Low-noise amplification improves signal-to-noise ratio" and I certainly attest to that. It's really the best performance - compared to above mentioned amplifiers. Build quality is quite nice(design, provided AC adapter, signal injector, even the boots to cover your RG6 connectors, provided instructions etc). Product is very new; as it's only released in May 2019. At this price level, I believe that this amplifier will climb to segment leadership quite fast. It's so sad here Amazon mixes reviews of all different GE products together. On this Amplifier Amazon shows 593 reviews. But when you actually sort all those reviews for this actual product; it's only a handful. On my quest to win on that signal quality drops; I tried different filters. I tried 4G/LTE filter (thinking that nearby cell towers might be causing interference); no help at all. I tried FM-trap filter; no help. Then instead of fighting all hypothetical interference sources; I thought about actually if VHF-UHF Band-Pass Filter exists? Lo and behold it did : https://www.amazon.com/VHF-UHF-Band-Pass-174-214-470-700MHz-Special/dp/B07HQX5VT2/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=VHF-UHF+band-pass+filter&qid=1566951674&s=gateway&sr=8-1 I actually bought this cheaper from that other "bay" web site. It came all the way from Slovakia. What it does is; it only passes VHF-UHF frequencies (so it helps against your local HAM radio transmitters and anything else). It improved signal quality situation better. But I still time to time get milder drops. When we switch to 5G cell network; we'll probably have harder time with OTA TV signal quality, due to interference. ... show more

  • Didn’t work for my location.
Color: Black Pattern Name: TV Antenna
I have a place on a small lake southeast of Atlanta and was looking to just get some local channels to watch at night and when the weather prevented me from being on the lake. I had zero channels before adding this to my antenna. After installation I still had zero channels. So there was no improvement for me at the lake. ... show more

  • Works great with my GE attic antenna and Fire recast
Color: Black Pattern Name: TV Antenna
This was the special sauce that sorted out my fire recast set up. I picked up the GE attic antenna, and direct into my TV, signal was good enough, so I picked up the recast Dvr but started having weak signal issues on almost every channel. A lot of what I read made it look like the recast didn't play nice with amplified antenna signals, but this amplifier had pretty good reviews, so I figured I'd roll the dice once it was available (because it's not always available), and it appears to be worth the wait. I couldn't figure out exactly how to hook it up based on the reviews, but it's really straightforward. I bought a 1 foot coax that fits between the antenna and box, the box is zip tied to the antenna mast in the attic, and then I have my 15' coax that ran to the recast. There's a little dongle hooked up on the other end of the coax where it goes into the recast. That's where the included power supply joins the chain. No need to run electricity to an outlet by the antenna in the attic. Simple to add to my set up, and no longer getting the constant weak signal notifications from the recast, win win! ... show more

  • Works great

Bought this for my mother in law. She lives approx. an hour away from a large city. Her house is surrounded by trees. Hooked this up and she gets plenty of channels with good picture. Been working great for a few months now.

  • Don't buy.
Color: Black Pattern Name: TV Antenna
After buying a ground rod, grounding block, and cable extentions in addition to this booster the only thing I did not do per instructions was mount the booster outside or in the attic. I figured I should see some positive result with it in the same room as the TV. I should add right here that I was getting 26 channels clear without the booster. I was adding the booster to clear up one channel that my wife really wanted. ( She likes to watch old westerns). When I added the booster it killed everything. I was getting six sketchy channels and nothing else. I reviewed my instructions and everything was hooked up right. I have an antenna and booster (different brand and motorized) on the other end of the house. That booster is inside and 35 feet away from the antenna with no issues. The best I can tell this thing is junk unless someone can explain to me why this has to be mounted outside and why it killed almost all the channels I was pulling in without this product. This is the only conclusion I can draw. ... show more

  • Reasonably priced but did not last for long before breaking
Color: Black Pattern Name: TV Antenna
This amp does an excellent job of cleaning up noisy signals. After installing it I saw a dramatic increase in my signal to noise ratio and the pixelation issues that I had been dealing with for the last 6 months instantly cleared up. I highly recommend this product. UPDATE: this amp failed after 8 months of use and I am adjusting my rating to 2 stars based on its short life. It worked well while it worked but I expected it to last for several years not several months. ... show more
