This is a nicely styled bathroom scale that fits well into my decor. The digital read is BIGGER than many, so easy to read. When I first got the scale I was impressed by how light weight and sturdy it is. The scale came right on and was easy to ready and very responsive. The scale works very well for my wife and daughter, but not for me. For some reason it has added twenty pounds to my weight. I tested this against another scale and the GE scale is so advanced that it has convinced the other scale to add twenty pounds to me as well. This isn't a smart scale, it's a evil mastermind scale. Don't be fooled by it's good looks and "accurate reading". This thing has only one agenda, to crumble your self esteem and dominate the world. I purchased this to take to appointments for a second opinion on my my weight. I chose to start doing this because insurance companies, doctors' offices and hospitals use BMI to discriminate. They make you take your shoes off for your height but leave everything else on you for your weight and *then* their scale is 10# heavy. If they didn't make medical decisions about procedures based on BMI (which should never be used for individuals in the first place) it wouldn't matter so much. This scale fits in the laptop pocket of my messenger bag and it is lightweight and perfect for carrying with me. When I am skeptical of my accurate weight, I put this scale on the floor and check right next to the offending Dr.'s office machine that hasn't been accurate in years. One nurse mentioned about not trusting them when I did this. I asked if she would rather have me weigh myself naked rather than with 13# (with clothes, coat, phone, wallet, etc. it was that much difference) plus the 10# their scale was adding. As long as we are making up numbers they can use mine too. I certainly have no intention of stripping down but we are only in this looneyville because their poor estimate of my BMI affects how much I pay for insurance or if I am going to get a procedure I need.
