Tank was dented on the bottom when it was unboxed, but rest looked fine so I installed it because I didn’t want to go thru the hassle of returning a large item. Installation was typical for a water heater and with the water in it it didn’t rock much. The hot water did not last long with the thermostat set at the factory settings (wife could not bath, wash hair and shave without the water getting cold). I increase the temperature and she does not have an issue. If I shower right after her the water will start to cool off but if I wait 10 to 15 minutes there is no issue. ... show more

    • Came with a non-functional thermostat.

Received a unit that would not heat water. After learning all about water heaters (which isn't a lot), I replaced the thermostat (for around $20), and it works. There are exactly zero good excuses for shipping a broken thermostat. Why? Because a simple test with an ohm meter showed that it had zero resistance. This can be done in around 5 seconds if you have an assembly line. Additionally, the water from the tank was very rusty when it first put out water. No mention was made that this should be expected in the instructions, so I have to assume that that's another problem. If I had to guess, I'd say that Amazon shipped used equipment, which is not legal without indicating before sale that it was used. Finally, for others here who say they cannot get a refund, contact your credit card company (number on the back of the card) and file a dispute. If it has not been too long, you can get a refund. ... show more
