I received this device yesterday. Interestingly, the intuitive way to hold this device is backwards. Fooling-around, I flipped it to try holding the device the front-way, and it felt much more comfortable. So, after investigating by watching the video for the 90-version Amazon-ad and looking at the photos for the 80-version Amazon-ad, I am confident to say the correct way to hold this device is the most comfortable: The fascia with the GD logo facing your right, or the slim, vertical bar with the printed weight-gradations (or as I call it, the axe) facing away from your body. Other than that missing instructional tid-bit* so far so good! *and, as someone else mentioned, that 1) one rep is when the two black metal tips under the spring touch; 2) as with any exercise, variations are speed (fast; slow; hold; negative; etc.) and position (over head; forward outstretched arm; over heart; inverted rotate wrist; coinciding with the end of a punch motion; etc.) 3) adding extenders for "not" large hands - think under 6' tall male is my guess, invokes the laws of leverage and is cheating (meaning your "normal-sized" hands need to use less pressure to achieve the stated weight when touching the extenders); 4) so if you cannot successfully complete one repetition at the lowest weight with your hand near the hilt (top of the handles), cheat by lowering your hand towards the bottom of the handles, adding extensions if you need more relief; 5) force = weight x distance, so if you still cannot complete a rep at the bottom of the handles, then reduce the handle distance; and 6) gloves [maybe something thin, like c|o|p|p|e|r f|i|t (c)] are an alternative to the handle tape (not sure why I did not think of that instead of buying pot-handle holders, smh). ... show more

The absolute best grip strength trainer I've ever had. The whole thing feels of quality, there is no cheap plastic that with wear away after a year or two of use, dodgy/flismsy connections, or just poor build quality. The screws holes present at the base of the device are also a wonderful addition, allowing you to get other attachments to train pinch strength etc. The 200lbs capacity of the grip strength trainer also let me get in a decent chest exercise, which is amazing for its size/compactness. Additionally the device let's you adjust not only the resistance (25-90kg for the iron 90), but also the grip spacing, so that if you have smaller hands you can adjust the handles so you can properly grip and squeeze them. This is a feature I've never had in the other cheap $10 grip strength trainers, and I really enjoy it. Overall I was hesitant to spend $75 on a grip strength trainer, but given the quality and craftsmanship I'm more than satisfied. ... show more

This is the highest end of adjustable grippers. Very solid all metal hardware. The lowest setting on these are about 3/4 of the highest setting of the cheaper low end grippers. And the second lowest setting is harder than the hardest setting on cheaper grippers (this is the heaviest I can use for reps). And I don't think I will ever be able to use the heaviest setting. The only way up from these are the "Captains of Crush" grippers (which come in non-adjustable individual grip trainers). Throw it in the gym bag. Use it as a finisher for arm day. ... show more
