  • Freedom slug radar
One of the best items I have bought in the most recent days. Very simple to set up, very simple to use, store, data, can make notes on group shots, and overall an A+ for me. It works extremely well, very accurate, and makes target shooting much more fun and eliminates the need for multiple reload rounds. Excellent buy! Recommended 100% ... show more

  • Great chronograph and game changer for measuring velocity.
Tiny unit and has not missed a shot so far. Previous chronograph took major setup time and an extra trip from the vehicle to the range just to carry all the equipment. Sky screens and light had to be perfect but this one just point toward the target and shoot. Unit fits in a pocket and takes up almost no space in the shooting bag. Setup only takes a few seconds to set for pistol or rifle and bullet weight. Download of sessions to my S10 phone works perfectly every time. ... show more

  • Expensive, But XERO Hassles
I hesitated buy the Garmin Xero C1 Pro because of the price. It seems way too expensive to get me the velocity information I needed. There are cheaper alternatives and most are of the same old technology as my old Chrony where it reads the bullet (shadow) passing by in order to determine velocity which comes with all sorts of inherent issues such as shade, clouds, muzzle gasses, etc. all resulting in bad readings or errors. Never mind the risk of shooting your chronograph that is down range from the rifle. So I read a bunch of reviews on the Garmin and decided to give it a reluctant try. POOF and $640 was gone, but I had my new chronograph and it is TINY. It is small than the size of my old display unit for my deceased Chrony. After I got it out of the box, on the charger, and turned on for the first time, I did the initial setup (things like picking English as a language and fps instead of mps, etc.) and waited for it to fully charge. I did not read any instructions. I got it to the range, put it on its little tripod and set it up next to the rifle like I saw in other reviews (I now know it needs to be fairly close to the muzzle), turned it on, selected to start a new session, and started shooting. It read each shot fired with no dropped shots and no errors. When I would change to a different load, I would start a new session. I was able to get the data I needed very quickly and then be on my way to hunt. ZERO problems were encountered. I have not used the app, though I did download it. I am not sure what all the app will do, but will explore that in the future. The unit does not require use of the app (which was a concern I had) to get your basic shooting data (see screen display images. The first shows the display after a shot and the 2nd shows the summer of the shots for the given load. If you are going to pay a premium price for a bit of kit, you want that bit of kit to be hassle-free and in my experience so far, the Garmin Xero C1 Pro has been hassle free and not only that, soooo much easier to use than my old chronograph. Setup and breakdown are literally only seconds. I would spend several minutes each range session aligning my chronograph perfectly and trying a test shot or two to make sure it is set up where it can read my shots and if not, make more adjustments. Setup for the Garmin Xero C1 Pro was simply a matter of setting it out on the shooting bench next to the rifle out by the muzzle (where you would likely place it so you could readily read the display anyways) and pointing it down range, pressing a button to turn on the power and a button to start a new session. Even if you don't use the app and forgot to bring a pen to write down the data, no worries, it will save it for you. As I am a night hunter (hogs and pests), it would be nice to be able to use a chronograph after dark. As the Garmin uses radar to 'see" the bullet, I should be able to do my range work after dark if I need to do so. I paid a lot of money for this chronograph, but it has not disappointed me in any way thus far. I am quite pleased with my purchase. ... show more

  • Astoundingly easy to use.
I have previously been using a Magnetospeed V3 which is kind of a pain to set up on a rifle barrel using those spacers if you don't have Arca rails and the last time I tried to use it I got nothing but 'Error' messages which is frustrating and wasteful of expensive match grade ammunition. I got the Magnetospeed V3 instead of the Garmin Xero C1 first because I wanted a cheaper alternative but I now know that I should have gotten to Xero C1 right off the bat. Yes getting over the mental hurdle of the high price tag is difficult but if you saw just how easy this thing is to use and how reliable it is it wouldn't bother you. It is as simple as this. 1. Turn the unit on 2. Select new session 3. Select type of firearm. Pistol, rifle, etc. 4. Select bullet weight 6.Enter bullet velocity 7. Set it up next to your Firearm as per instructions That's it, takes about a minute to set up and you're good to go. My first session I fired 10 shots of 9mm to test it and it caught every shot with ease. My 2nd session I fired 5 shots of 6.5mm Creedmoor 120gr and again, no problems whatsoever. THEN I plugged the muzzle velocity average into my ballistic computer to get the right elevation dope for my scope and it got me 99.98% there at 600 yards. I only needed to dial one click up to get the accuracy I wanted. This now makes it possible for me use different makes and bullet weights of ammo and get the muzzle velocities with ease and saves wasting expensive ammunition when trying to get something less reliable to work. Also it paired with my iPhone via Bluetooth with no problems and it automatically downloaded the muzzle velocity data to the Garmin Shotview app. From there you can save it as a CSV file anywhere you want. The Magnetospeed V3 now goes up on Ebay for sale. My advice to you is to just swallow hard and buy it and not look back. You will not be disappointed and all the time and ammo saved and the frustration avoided with the cheaper alternatives will be a blessing. ... show more

  • Convenient
It's on the pricey side, but one of the few items that I would say is worth every penny. I now chrono every shot on every range session and it has never missed a shot. It is simple, easy and accurate, and takes up very little space in you range bag or on the bench, what more could you want.

  • Amazing! Accurate and Reliable
I got this based on the rave reviews of others. I second those! Has not dropped a shot, has not logged shots from shooters next to me. Easy to read. Trivial to set up - place a bit behind and to the side of the muzzle, pointing roughly downrange, and you are good to go. I hope that they get around to tracking the bullet downrange, but muzzle velocity is fine. ... show more
