Overall I love this watch. I’ve waited several months to write a review in part to do with wanting to see how well the GPS performed after the leaves come out. It does very well. I haves used this daily in several locations in the mountains of western NC and after I learned it’s little quirks I have to give it five stars. It has been used on multiple search and rescue operations as my primary gps and all the features from the altitude, barometer, temp and location have been fairly accurate. As with anything electronic it is always back up by map and compass but I can say it’s made my daily and work life easier. The only thing I don’t like is that on my main watch face the altitude and elevation do not change unless I’m using a gps widget, I’m guessing this is in part to helping extend the battery life. Once I learned this has to be calibrated when I change areas I can say it’s an acceptable quirk. It’s a little slow when you first start up one of the many gps options but runs fast after that. Sets up to give current location in lat and long and USNG which is awesome for quickly calling in my location during rescue operations. All the other health tracking options work great and I find helpful for work outs and hiking. Watch is very durable and I love that I can read the face in any sunlight and while wearing polarized sunglasses. So far a good purchase for the needs I have. ... show more

I bought this watch and it looks really cool! A lot of features! Still I returned it and bought the Garmin Tactix 7 AMOLED. I wanted AMOLED screen, and also wanted to get the new sensor.

    • Great Watch but sad story

Let me start out by saying this is a great watch. I used this as my daily watch only removing it to shower and recharge. It worked very well with my sleep tracking and recording my steps, reading altitude, mapping locations/routes taken, receiving phone notifications and the battery life is great as well. Unfortunately, after owning this watch for a little over a year now, I'm experiencing some major malfunctions. The battery started to die faster than normal (within a day) usually lasting roughly 2 weeks granted I'm not working out everyday. The screen also began to freeze up a lot. I did research and attempted to troubleshoot and reduce the demand on the watch, limiting notifications and keeping backlight at low %. I also have done both soft and hard resets on the watch. None of the above has reduced the symptoms experienced so I contacted Garmin directly and performed troubleshooting with them as well. They also informed me that of course I was out of my warranty timeframe. Unfortunately, after the troubleshooting the results were the same and a replacement option was given. I opted not to do the replacement because they were intending to send me a refurbished device. And I would've had to pay $190 +tax and send my device prior to them shipping out the replacement. This isn't an uncommon process but I have never had good experiences with refurbished devices. Again this was a great watch when it was working as designed. Sadly, it didn't last much longer than a year. I purchased and received the watch in July 2021 and it's currently October 2022. So, for me this watch didn't meet my expectations but I hope if you purchase this device you don't have this experience. This is a great device and I hope this is just a one off experience.     • The MacGyver Watch
It's big..yes, but if you're into outdoors, hiking, shooting...this watch does it all. It won't give you readings as a diver...but for navigation...it is a must. Was in a very remote area in the southern parts of the Philippines. Nothing else picked up GPS navigation. This did. Easily. The Ballistic version is not sold in the Philippines for good reason, but mine is from the US and does have it. Testing it out for ranging and shooting....1 kilometer (roughly over a thousand yards as it is 1000 meters), it is spot on. Easily calculated for targets at that distance. Would have tried for 1 mile, but we didn't have a rifle/ammo that could hit out that far. As for the solar charging...it helps to prolong operations. If you set it to minimum...it will charge. When it is on minimum it'll run for two months or longer without being charged. When you use it for navigation, tracking, etc....It will last anywhere from ten to eighteen days depending on how heavily you use all of the crazy functions this watch has. Durability is amazing. I've had this over a year now and I have yet to scratch it. I mainly use the rubber straps as you sweat a lot where I'm at. The webbed strap will collect your sweat and will not be pleasing to smell after a while. Switching them out is easy so when it is cooler I opt for the webbing. And no...the straps do not come off in operation. This watch does so much. It will likely be the last operational watch you'll ever need....unless it's under water. For erasing information...it's so easy. So...for you military guys...it will erase everything rather quickly. ... show more

I've only had this watch for a few weeks, but OMG it's freaking awesome!!! I've been looking at the Garmin Fenix 6X Solar for a while now, but didn't want to pay the bucks. Finally, I decided to pull the trigger - but ended up going big as I passed the Fenix6 for the tactix Delta Solar. And so glad I did now as the tactix combines Solar with the Sapphire glass. At this point, I've no intention of adding a screen protector because of the Sapphire glass properties. This watch has so much potential and features, and I've only scratched the surface on functionality. This might very well become my last watch as I'm nearing retirement age. The battery life is much an improvement oveer the Samsung Gear that I've now tossed into my junk drawer... lol - So far, the tactical watch has surpassed my every expectation and worth every penny to me. ... show more
