I just got this a few days ago, so I haven’t figured out all the things this watch can do I’m not a runner. This watch was designed for runners and it has lots of things on it that look like they would be great for running. I’m a medium distance horseback trail rider. I need to know my current speed, distance traveled, and time on the trail. It does those things well. It has a good phone interface and I can control audiobooks and music from it which to me it an added bonus. The battery life isn’t that great in GOS mode, but it charges fast. I go through about 50% of the battery in a 2-3 hour ride. Despite that, I highly recommend! ... show more

I am beyond pleased with my Garmin Forerunner 55! This is my first Garmin. After having three Fitbits, the last one didn't even last a year before having problems I was more than ready to change products. I am extremely pleased witj the Garmin app! It has a ton of features. My only complaint is on me - I should have studied the products a little more. I didn't realize that the Forerunner isn't a touchscreen. It really isn't that big of an issue though, I will eventually adjust. It is still a very amazing product. At some point down the road I will probably go with a Vivoactive just to have the touchscreen and stay in my price range. I mowed my lawn with my Garmin on for the first time this week and it is by far more accurate than a fitbit. It doesn't pick up the vibrations from the mower and weedeater and count it as false steps. So far I plan on sticking with a Garmin! ... show more

I was just looking for a watch with GPS to track my run time and pace, and this watch does it well. I don't really use it for much else. Battery life is really good also which is a nice surprise.

    • Exactly what I was hoping to receive
I was unaware of Garmin watches until my nephew told me about them. I was using a Fitbit and was not happy with it. Exercise is an important part of my life and I often found my fitbit to be inaccurate or not task specific. I decided to try the Forerunner 55 ( on the more inexpensive side) and love it. Arrived in 1 day as advertised..It accurately tracks my vitals, my exercise details, my sleep, calories burned. I tailored a watch face that I really like. I edited the fields so that I have the info that I specifically want, rather than being stuck with whatever is provided, as in the case of my fitbit. I even chose the colors for text , icons and backgrounds..so you can really make the watch your own. The Garmin app that you load onto your phone is great. It provides you with in depth detail about so many things.The battery lasts beyond what I was expecting. The watch is durable and often it is either raining or im sweating profusely and the watch is fine with that. Great purchase. I love the watch. ... show more

    • Exceeds Expectations
My biggest complaints about trackers I've used is the low battery life and needing to charge frequently. For the FR55, I've been blown out of the water with how well the battery has performed. This is definitely what stands out to me. The product specs say 14 days without GPS, but I've gone 16-18 days of battery life with 5-6 runs using GPS mixed in. When I do need to charge it, I can go from 10% to 100% in about an hour and 15 minutes. I don't use it for sleep tracking so that may help with some of the battery life. As a runner, it can take a 10-15 seconds to connect to GPS sometimes, but that's not really a problem. I love the fields I can customize for workouts and the accuracy is close enough that it doesn't bother me at all. The watch is surprisingly lightweight, and the strap is very comfortable and easy to adjust. The display is also easy to read, especially in bright light. Other features I love, is that you can use it to find your phone, see text messages, connects to Strava, and is very customizable with watch faces, fields, notifications, etc. I don't usually write reviews, but this watch deserves the praise. 5 Stars +! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I just got this less than a month ago and the screen stayed frozen today tried to connect it to the charger to see if it would reset and nothing.
