We put this up in our yard for the kids and I thought, "That thing is so huge!!" It is 10ft high, but you can remove sections of the pole to make it shorter, if you'd like to. It came with everything we needed to assemble it, including a pump and needle to fill the ball. I was so grateful, because I couldn't remember where ours was. The kids immediately started playing with it, and it is FUN!! We need to figure out some way to mark the grass so they don't go on the other person's side, but other than that, it is great fun straight out of the box!! This is an improvement over another we had gotten before, in the design. That one was put together by screwing the poles into each other… problem was that when you have the ball go around the pole, as you are supposed to, it comes unscrewed and then the screws bend and are unusable. This one… the poles are put together with screws through both the poles and so they do not come unscrewed. This is a great product with very high quality. ... show more

To start, this is a fun game and great exercise. On the positive side, the 5-prong base is solid and provides fairly lasting support even with older, stronger participants whacking at the ball. The downside is that in order to make it portable, it comes in small sections. These can be tightened to be upright for about 10 whacks of the ball, and then it loosens up and starts to lean. Maybe with some LockTite it will stay, but as is, it just starts leaning and then the ball touches the ground. And if you're gonna make it portable, you probably should have included a travel bag. But they didn't. The ball is heavy -- heavier than a volleyball. This is fine for older individuals, but might be a bit much for younger participants. The stability is really the deal breaker for us. We had to tighten it up between each game to try to keep it more or less vertical. ... show more

I was hoping this would be a fun game for my kids to play in the backyard, but the truth is, it comes in a bunch of segments that need to be screwed together which ends up making it very wobbly. It's very difficult to get the spikes all the way into the ground as well. I tightened the screws as much as possible, but it still ended up being unbalanced making it not work as intended. This tetherball set is a lot of fun. It was quick and easy to put together. The base has five prongs which stab into the ground and make it sturdy. We kept it pretty short for now because we have young kids playing with it, but we can easily make it taller so adults can play too. This set came complete with a ball and rope and even an air pump. We use spray paint to mark lines on the grass. Since this tetherball pole stabs into the ground, it is easy to move when we need to mow. We also move it to another area when the grass gets wore down. Another advantage is that we can take it with us to other places and play tetherball there. We kept the sturdy box to hold the extra poles and to use it if we take the set elsewhere. ... show more

Overall, this was a mixed experience. The ball and rope are high quality and durable, however, the pole itself leaves much to be desired. It's made of short segments that are flimsy and prone to bending, which I suppose might have to save on shipping costs or to make the game portable. If the goal was portability, screwing in two screws for each segment, would make for a long setup time in a park. If you were intending to use this at home, a person would do a lot better by just getting a conduit pipe from your local big box hardware store and anchoring it in concrete. This would result in a far sturdier and more reliable setup compared to the provided pole. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The Tetherball set came in pieces, and the ball deflated (which is to be expected). The assembly was straightforward. My preteen did almost all the work in getting it set up. The main issue I have with this set (even after checking all the screws to make sure they are tight) is how wobbly the pole is. It seems cheap and needs better quality material. The game itself is fun, and if you are looking for some outdoor activity, my kids have gotten good exercise playing this. However, I have a hard time recommending this set due to the quality of materials used. ... show more

I really like that I don't have to dig a pole in the ground. At first I was worried that this wouldn't be very stable, but I was wrong. This actually stays up very well. Even with hard hits.
