I have been a fan of the ADA Super Jet filter for a while, but couldn’t justify the high price. The Astra-Stream seems to be a great alternative in terms of functionality and sleek design. The 15L canister provides a ton of room for biological and mechanical filtration, which will keep my water crystal clear. The seals seem solid and have not shown any signs of leaking. The pump is powerful and very quiet vs traditional canister filters. I love that you can control the flow via a controller and it even has a “feed” button, which pauses the pump during feedings. This obviously cuts down on fish food being blown everywhere and going to waste. Lastly, the stainless steel design is very attractive and almost needs to be on display in my fish room. ... show more

    • First time buyer and definitely not happy
I ordered this fzone canister filter October 2023 for my 150 gallon discus tank for polishing, after setting it up and all the excitement of having a stainless steel canister filter I was highly disappointed. The pump immediately started leaking from the screws on the impeller housing. All 4 screws were very loose. After tightening all 4 screws it still leaked. So I replaced the gasket to the impeller. Good thing Fzone supplies an extra set of gaskets, I guess this must be a known problem. After putting it back together it still leaked. I ended up calling amazon for a replacement, amazon overnighted a new filter. After setting that replacement filter it immediately began leaking from the ring the the 4 clips are welded to and the pump also leaked much worse then the first canister. Very poor quality control on fzone. Also both canister filters sucked in air and loaded my aquarium with micro bubbles. No matter how many times I open the top to check the red gasket. I m highly disappointed. For 300 dollars there shouldn't be this type of issues. I have a video if fzone is interested in seeing. February 1, 2024 update. Terrible product and worst purchases I have made. This Fzone canister filter is a terrible design and the water pump is a cheap plastic flood disaster waiting to happen. No matter how many times I replace the Orings I still get micro bubbles and water leaks. If I turn up the controller to 20 its nothing but micro bubbles. So I have to keep it set at 4. I even changed to Oring in the canister 3 times and still micro bubbles. My honest opinion of this over price paper weight is to stay clear of it. As for fzone customer service their no help at all. They want my to return it to them and once they recit they will send me a new one. Ok so what filter will I use for my 150 gallon discus aquarium in the mean time. I have very expensive discus. How about sending me a replacement if you really care and I will send this junk over price canister filter back to you. It's useless to me! BUYER BEWARE. ... show more

Still new but awesome filter so far, I'll update if anything changes. Beautiful design all stainless steel. I got some reinforced vinyl tubing for mine from a hardware store, added quick release or double taps to where the tubing meets the filter so I can disconnect it for cleaning. Inside I put the media plate with legs, followed by a course sponge, followed by filter floss, followed by lots of pumice stone(I have a picture of my filter media). I really like the open inside design as well as overall simplicity and customization- it's kind of set up how you want it. It's also nice being solid steel with the big gasket under the lid- it seems unlikely for the canister to ever leak as long as you have your hoses clamped on well. I also used a fzone pump which is really nice, quiet and cool wave function. I currently have this filter running on a 20 gallon long tank with lots of plants. The water looks great. This 4.5L canister has a ton of filter media capacity especially for my 20 gallon(and easily more)- definitely considerably higher filtration ability than the hang on back filter I've been using rated for the tank size. All around really neat filter, I think very worth getting. I've bought other products from fzone and can say they have great customer service if you ever do need to contact them for any reason ... show more

Pattern Name: 15L, Twin Inlets
This is our third FZone canister filter. We are extremely satisfied with the build quality and operation of these filters. They are so much better and serviceable than our previous plastic canister filters. We’ll never go back. I like that the pump is replaceable and that the plumbing is all exposed. Leaks are easily identifiable and corrected. Cleaning and replacing the media is straightforward and simple. We’ve not had any experience of main O-ring failures as I’ve seen in other reviews. Our canisters have never displaced or malformed the O-ring. Perhaps other’s failures are a minority due to slight manufacturing tolerances. The pump is a newer design from fzone and replacing it works best for us. The previous design (all black) was my favorite even if it was a bit less efficient. The new pump design (with blue bell housing and connectors) has a poorer build quality and tolerances. If you are serious about aquariums this is a logical upgrade, short of building a sump. I think this is the best value for canister filters available today notwithstanding the pump. I would purchase this canister filter again. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I upgraded from sunsun to this big boy for my new 120p aquarium. The main reason was the humming noise came out from my sunsun annoy the $!ht out of me. This big boy is impressive, very quiet and strong flow able to bring water around my 70 gallon tank. I go with the 15L, 880 gph pump option. The canister is gigantic, pretty heavy if you fill it with all bio filter material, I fill it with two diy corse sponge pads, then all pumice and lava rocks, moving it around requires strong arms. You will need to prime it, a small intank pump can draw water into it. Ideally a pre-filter will reduce maintenance work a lot with this type of canister, but we can only hope a pre-filter will be made by fzone soon. As of now I think I need to clean it every 3 months. ... show more
