It's not as tightly wound, but I actually wanted that, because since I bought the black one, I wanted it to be extra breathable. Not sure how they "dare" write SPF 50 on the hat, because it's a really loosely-woven mesh. I would still put on sunblock, etc. I highly recommend this hat. This hat scrunches up in your backpack or suitcase and bounces back to it's original shape. I love the styling and utility. It has a chin strap for windy weather. I think I might get an additional style as all my photos have it in them. I get a lot of comments on how good it looks.

We went to Aruba and I got us these matching hats. Aruba is a desert island so not a lot of clouds or rain, just a lot of sun and wind. But these hats kept us from getting burned on our faces and ears and the strap kept them from flying away due to the winds. I highly recommend!!!
