I bought the 5-tier white bookcase. It's nice but not without some physical flaws. My item has a few small nicks in the wood, and one dent was painted over (likely by the manufacturer) with white paint (or maybe white marker). It was a pretty unsightly 2.5-3" mark, and located on the top-front of the item. I was debating returning the bookcase, because of this flaw, but my partner tried rubbing at the white paint and it just came right off... The original nick doesn't look half as noticeable as whatever the manufacturer tried to cover it with, so I'm just going to keep the bookcase. The 5-tier white bookcase also comes in two parts... Top portion and bottom portion. The top is made up of the top, back, sides, and two shelves. The bottom is made up of the back, sides, bottom, and two shelves. They are suppose to slide together, but mine does have a little gap and I wish the pieces were flush. I also want to note that the second to last step of the instructions might require a drill! They ask you to add 4 plastic support pieces to the back, with 8 small screws, and there were no holes created by the manufacturer for this step. Despite these things, I do really like the size and height of this bookcase, and I'm going to give it a chance. ... show more

UPDATE - I loved the first shelf I received that I ordered another - first 4 pictures are of the first shelf. What a disappointment the second shelf is :( The original shelf had all sides and both the top and bottom of shelves white in color, the second shelf - the back is brown and unpainted, the bottom of the shelfs are brown and unpainted and I'm not even sure they are the same color white. So much for receiving exactly the same shelf - I even did the "order again" option so it's not like I ordered a different product. It's to much of a hassle to take apart, rebox and send back. It still serves it's purpose, but isn't the same as the first one. Original review: Product arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It was not hard to put together at all - only tools needed were a rubber mallet and a Philips head screwdriver. I opened the box, took my time sorting and assembling and it still only took 1 hour - even with my "helper" dog assisting!!!!!! The shelf is the perfect size to place next to my small corner desk. I needed more space for "stuff" and it's perfect so far. If it falls apart or something dreadful happens I'll update! ... show more

I love it so much! I just needed something small so I have somewhere to put a few things so it doesn’t look so cluttered up in one area in my room and this was perfect! It was super easy to put together, I do think some would want help with holding the shelves still while screwing them in place but I was able to put the whole thing together myself. It did come with a back which looked nice too but I liked it better without it and left it off. It’s a little heavier and sturdier than I thought it’d be considering the price and a lot of negative reviews, but I took my chances thinking it’d be a hit or miss and I’m so glad I did! ... show more

I bought one of these book shelves 2 years ago. I got it to put video games on next to my tv. I wanted to get 2, but never had the space. The first bookshelf is still standing strong, which is why I got another one to match it. The first one has survived a move from the north to the south, and 3 different places. I got the second one to go on the other side of the tv and fill with my movies. They’re both beautiful and very sturdy. Plus for the price they’re super worth it. the 2 things i would say is the instructions do NOT help you very much at all i had to look at the 3d picture on amazon. that helped me more it took like 4 hours to build and had to take it apart over 3 times to redo it and i know directions good so kinda ehh.. BUT once built its nice and pretty , and the paint chips very easily so be very careful ... show more

    • Easy to assemble but you get what you pay for

It was easy to assemble, just need a Phillips head screwdriver and a hammer or mallet. However, the screws are not set in, so they stick out about 1/8 inch off the bookcase. The manufacturer provides simple white round stickers to cover the screws. They barely cover the screws, do bot match the laminate on the shelf, and do nothing to help with the screws poking out from the body of the shelf. I ended up pushing the edge of the stickers into the gap between the screw and the shelf. It doesn't look terribly professional but is much better than the stickers floating in air. Also, take care removing the sticker labels used by the manufacturer to mark the components for the instructions. You can inadvertently peal off some of the finish with the sticker. I used extra white stickers for the screws to cover 2 tears. All in all, it was cheap and easy to put together. It suits my immediate needs well. I will be looking for something more quality for long term use. ... show more
