  • Store in a dry place, with the mattress on the bottom and the comforter on top. If the Futon will be stored for a while, it should be dried first and stored in a dry place with the covers removed. Dry the Futon on a regular basis even if not in use.

    • Erase your mindset- GREAT MATTRESS

I purposely didn't write a review right away because I saw a lot of negativity from this purchases. I made it into a experiment and tested out the mattress. I currently live in a tent in the woods. The ground is rock hard but stable. Before I put the mattress on, I made sure to use two Japanese tatami mats. After, I put two large blankets to preserve the mat. I was impressed by the packaging and was thankful for the sweet note. I love Japan and lifestyle which attracted me to buy this mattress ( as well as I do not live in a house) I remember in Japan I would often not have a bed to sleep on, so this made me want to relive the peacefulness. After a couple of weeks of sleeping on the mat I would say I am quite comfortable. I do highly suggest you buy a cover for it and let the mattress puff up. I left it in the tent for a couple of days without using. Currently I am in love with the product. Having it brings me closer to home and makes me sleep peacefully without being on a hard surface all day. Note that it is a Japanese floor mattress, not a memory foam mattress you think of when sleeping on a western style house. I would assume that people that didn't do their research before purchasing didn't take not that this isn't suppose to replace that style of bed. I love this bed and wanted you all to know the truth about it. If you are used to sleeping on the floor I would recommend it.     • Comfy, but some size and packaging issues

First and foremost: super comfy. I use this mattress along with a tatami mat and it's a great surface for sleeping. Pretty easy to fold (which is important, because I live in a small space and need to move things out of the way during the day). The bad, though. The full is not 75" as advertised. I haven't taken the measuring tape to it, but I'm 6'1" and have to sleep diagonal. (That's fine, I'm used to it, but it's still frustrating.) Second, mildew in the packaging. As soon as I opened the sealed bag I smelled mildew. There were no visible exterior stains, so I gaze it a good shellacing with hydrogen peroxide and left in out in the sun for a couple days. Seems to have solved the problem, probably a one-off occurrence given the care evident elsewhere in the product design and packaging, but not a great first impression. All in all: Good product, may have some slight packaging and sizing issues, but worth it. Overall I'm pleased. ... show more

This is a fantastic product. I searched high and low for 100% cotton lined, Japan-made futon on Amazon, and this product kept coming back into view. The only other comparable product would take four weeks to arrive (but sported an additional 1" thickness to total 3.5" thick). I went with this produc,t and this 2.5" futon is PERFECT for my needs. It arrived in excellent packagings — vacuum sealed, with several other seals protecting it. After 45 minutes the futon reactivated perfectly. I highly recommend the use of a tatami underneath this product. Not only to protect the futon, but to regulate the firmness; I find this futon is perfect with a mat underneath. Otherwise, I fear it might be too firm. Do yourself a favor and stop searching all over amazon for a reliable futon. You've found it here. I was excited to make the switch to a futon. After several weeks I developed lower back pain which I never had before. The mattress is too thin to help support back or side sleepers. I have back issues and needed a proper back support. Decided to try this and I slept like a baby for the first time in years. I bought the tatami mat and layered it with a rug underneath. With blankets and pillows to cushion any joints, I didn’t have a problem falling asleep. Honestly made a convert out of me. I have an awful back and have been sleeping on a couch for a couple years due to my back pain. While this floor mattress has been an adjustment, I get a better quality of sleep and wake up in less pain. Occasionally I switch to the couch for a couple of nights/hours left in the night.
