BBQ Focused Review and Comparison

First of all, don't pay attention to reviews that confuse Chipotle Morita and Jalapeno. All Chipotle comes from Jalepeno. For simplicity; Chipotle Morita is a once smoked jalepeno and Chipotle Meco is a twice smoked jalepeno. I think that is what is confusing some people on taste. If you compare the
2 brands in my pictures, The Spice Way (TSW)is on top, the Frontier Co-op is on the bottom (plz don't pay attention to markings on the paper plate). You can clearly see the Frontier is much darker. The Spice Way is what I am used to seeing in other C.Morita brands and has a great flavor. The Frontier Co-op (FCO) is much smokier and much hotter. Not cayenne hot by any means but definitely spicier than your average Morita. FCO does not advertise to be a C.Meco but it is a lot closer to that flavor profile (it doesn't say it is a C.Morita either). Bottom line - They are both excellent and I think both have a place in your BBQ pantry. I'll probably gravitate to TSW for most of my family BBQ because my wife doesn't like a lot of spice but loves the flavor of Morita. I might sneak some FCO into her next rack of ribs just to be sure ;-). Personally, I like strong, smokey flavors and would opt more often for the FCO. It is quite expensive though. Both are good chipotles but with different flavor profiles.

These are smoked Jalapeño peppers and NOT chipotle. That being said, the product is excellent, full of flavor and pretty hot, parental discretion advised.

Very rich smooth, smoky heat that creeps up on you. Great taste. A little goes a long way.

This adds great flavor when I cook. Perfect smoke and heat flavor. When grilling veggies for my Ramen, this kicks it up the flavor a ton. Very very happy.

My wife is from the midwest, so her secret ingredient in her chili is cinnamon. But if you needed to count a different secret ingredient, it's this. She panics when she runs low and it makes sense to panic, as this imparts a subtle smokey and spicy flavor to the mix.

Distinct Smokey Flavor mild heat

Have been unable to find chipotle powder locally so next stop was amazon. I was concerned that I would have to buy a large qty but was pleased to find this at a low price and a 'normal' sized package. It's quite smokey with mild to medium heat. Would be a great addition to a bbq rub or chili, or even
mac n cheese or potato/macaroni salad. I put a tiny pinch/sprinkle on deviled eggs. It adds a little something but its not enough to be spicy.
