Description

Join TV’s Funniest New Family and flashback to the 90’s! 12-year old hip-hop enthusiast Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang) and his family make their way from D.C.’s Chinatown to Orlando where his dad, Louis (Randall Park) tries to make his new steakhouse a success. His mom, Jessica (Constance Wu) aims to understand the culture clash and dominate suburbia. While his brothers fit right in, Eddie’s still tries to get a seat at the table – any table – in the school cafeteria. • Movie may not work in your DVD Player
In my first DVD it did not show the movie but said this movie does not work it must be formatted but I used my brother DVD that has more features like Supported Media Type CD, DVD, SVCD, VCD It did worked. So in some foreign made movies they don't work in certain DVD players. The movie was good.

  • If you love The Goldbergs you'll love the Huangs! Good dvd set but, missing exclusives
Fresh of the Boat is down right brilliant It's a try and true formula of a family sitcom set in the early 1990's with a Asian American family from D.C. moving down south to FL chasing the american dream to open a knock-off Outback Steakhouse (It's more like a american pride Steakhouse but, the irony.... I shouldn't have to explain it I'm sure many people were unsure/put off on this sitcom mostly cause ABC did terrible tv spots that didn't give the show a fighting chance Along with the real-life Eddie Huang taking to social media and blasting this series from the jump! (Which i don't understand I'm sure he got a good chunk of cash for this) Needless to say it survived and was renewed for a second season (Something that happens less and less on network tv these days) If you grew up in the 1990's you'll get every reference. Much like The Goldbergs this show also uses licensed music which makes everything seem more real and legit Randall Park as Louis Huang (Louis might be one of the best tv dads in recent memories he is just the perfect realist dad) Constance Wu as Jessica Huang (Jessica is somewhat stereotypical but, the more the season goes on there is real depth to her character) Jessica is in no way like June Cleaver which is a good thing she's a modern real mother and it's easy to forget that Lucille Soong as Grandma Huang (She's gold even though she is a secondary character she is enjoyable to watch) Chelsey Crisp as new neighbor Honey (Chelsey is a good find they have her decked out in early 90's and she looks the part) She is also very likable and enduring Ray Wise as Marvin Honey's sugar daddy husband (Ray Wise is awesome whatever he is in i wish we got more of him) Paul Scheer as Mitch one of Louis employees (Paul is just great in this role) Jillian Armenante as Nancy another one of Louis employees (Jillian is this super under-rated character actress that's done everything!) For a good month after FOTB premiered there was lots of strange c/o about how this series was negative towards Asian people I'm not sure if ABC payed various groups under the table or what but, all the negative press went away quick it's real not negative towards anyone much like the Goldbergs there a lot of heart and soul to this series It's one of the best sitcoms on all network tv 9.5/10 The dvd is somewhat of a let down (It's been a while since i bought a dvd besides box sets I'm not a fan of the clear plastic case! Clear cases for BR's look cool but, dvd's not so much also lack of any real extras you get a Trivia Track on the pilot (Reminds me of VH-1's Pop up video you know when VH-1 actually played music videos) and Gag Real! DVD Positives = for 5.1 Dolby Digital and having all the licensed music thank God! also the PQ is really good upconverted you'd think it was a HD Broadcast! ... show more

  • Seriously Funny Family Sitcom But...
After watching the first episode, you'll be hooked with the characters and story line. However, whoever decided on the DVD navigational menu certainly doesn't deserve any credit whatsoever. The episode selection menu could have been better done by a five year old in class. Each episode has to be selected in a serial fashion from the very first one, so to select the title you require takes many keys shifts until the correct episode shows up for selection. You also don't have all the episodes shown on the menu at one glance, so never sure how many episodes are on the disc until you scroll down one title at a time. Otherwise, a great series to enjoy.! ... show more

  • I loved watching clips of this show on Youtube
I loved watching clips of this show on Youtube, so I decided to buy the DVD, especially since the Season 1 DVD is really cheap right now. The only thing I'm not happy about is that I opened the brand-new DVD to find that one of the little hinges that holds the first DVD to the second DVD (you know, so that you open the DVD case and can flip easily from one DVD to another) was broken. So now, whenever I open the DVD case, I have to watch out for that first DVD falling out. That's a manufacturing problem, I assume, since the DVD was completely sealed up when it arrived. ... show more

  • Wonderfully funny, sweet, and accurate show!
Hilarious show that finds it's voice very early in the season. The comedy is situational but really comes from the characters. I love this show because it's funny, sweet, moralistic without being corny, and hits home to my own Asian-American memories. Most of all, it's not an "Asian" show, it's a show about being an American and we all find different ways of exemplifying what that means. 'MURICA! ... show more
