I suffer from lower back pain due to poor posture, and wobbly joints, so I decided it was time to upgrade to a quality back brace. I expected it to work, but I didn't expect it to work comfortably! This is a very very very high quality brace. It is sturdy, and very well made. It provides support where needed, while still allowing a range of movement. If you have ever worn a bodice or a corset and are looking for similar support then this is the brace for you! The best part is the adjustable sides! I thought it was instantly comfortable the moment I put it on, but the moment I pulled those adjustable straps? I was not prepared for the instant relief! It was like a hug, for my poor wobbly skeleton! I was worried because I measure towards the upper end of one size, and I sized down. It fits like a glove, with a small bit of room for adjustment. That being said, you want to measure while wearing clothes, just to make sure, esp if you are between sizes. If you are within an inch (while clothed), or if you fluctuate up in size, then you may want to size up. I suffer from scoliosis and degenerative lumbar spine which give me constant lower back pain. This brace came with easy instructions on how to put it on, and I felt immediate support and much less pain while wearing it. It is super lightweight. On days when I will be standing/walking for several hours, I will definitely be wearing this brace. As far as fit, I fell in the medium range and ordered a medium. It fits, but if I had been at the high end of the range, I would have needed to order a large. Please take that into consideration when ordering. This is a well-designed, well-made back brace.     • Comfortable, supportive, corset like support and pad on the back and inside.
* Overall Impression: -This is a good value for a comfortable, supportive lower back lumbar brace with a criss-cross corset like back support and both an outer and inner lumbar support pad. It pads in both areas and both inside and outside the brace. -Do note, as I'll describe below, it runs a little small on the fit. You may want to consider ordering a size larger than the chart says you'll need. * Pros-what I liked and what worked well: -Good value for the comfort, style and support. -Good quality on the materials, make and finish. -Covers the lumbar lower back area (not lower SI area or thoracic). -Main Velcro strap closure. -2 side (1 on each side) Velcro straps to adjust the fit and support at the lower back. You may find you want to adjust them evenly across or one side more or less. This does pull on the criss-cross back area like a corset on the back and pull it inward a bit toward your spine. -Criss-cross corset like back strap design for more support closer to the spine. -Pads for the lower back on both the inside (removable, soft pad, Velcro attachment) (you can use the brace with or without it) and the outside (non removable). They are soft and supportive. -Rigid stays. (Non removable). They are well padded and comfortable but supportive. -Mesh fabric design, that's breathable. -Fairly lightweight and not too bulky. -Fabric isn't too rough or scratchy. -No odor or smell to it. It's safe for those sensitive to scents. -Instructions included. (You may also want to save, print or refer to the listing pictures and details as well.) -Comes in a re-closable plastic storage bag. * Cons-what I didn’t like and what didn’t work well: -Runs a little small, as I'll describe below. Especially if you don’t want too tight of a fit or are in the middle or upper range of a size range in the listing size chart. * Tips & Thoughts: -I have "swayback" (lumbar lordosis) as well as scoliosis (this won't really help with that, just the lower back) and braces with the criss-cross corset back style and the pads really help with support when you have a curved lower back. I've used others with one inner pad, but this is the first one with both a pad on the inside and outside and I can feel a difference with the added padding. I get a better fit closer to the spine and curve of my back vs braces without pads or the criss-cross corset like support. -Be sure and measure your waist as directed in the listing pictures at the widest part vs your natural waistline. If you have a tummy you'll want to measure around that if it's larger than your waistline. I'd also consider going up a size to be sure you get a good fit. -I have a 29-30 inch natural waistline and ordered the medium which is rated to fit 31.5 inches to 39.4 inch waists. I prefer to be able to wear it over clothes, jeans as needed and prefer to have a larger fit vs tighter. It fit me perfectly, but I don't think there's any way it would fit any waist easily over about 32 inches, not even remotely up to 39.4 inches. -You may want to order a size larger just to be sure you have room for bulky clothing and not too tight a fit. It's easier to adjust a larger one to fit smaller than deal with a too tight brace. -Note that the stays are not removable. -Note that the inner back pad is a soft padded material and is removable. If you've used others with this some are a firmer, gel pad, this is soft padding vs firm gel. -Note this is not an SI belt, it doesn't go low enough for that. However you may be able to wear an SI belt beneath it (lower on your back, not under the brace). -Note that it only covers the lower lumbar back area, not the mid thoracic back. -It's not a rib belt but I do find this style of brace worn higher does help with rib pain on the sides, especially if I put the pad on that area. It won't replace a rib belt or brace, but you may also like it for rib and side pain. ... show more

My waist is 29 inches and the small fit me perfectly. I love the height of this back brace and the strength of the velcro straps. The waist overlaps and then the straps criss cross on the sides and overlap in the front where it Velcros. The biggest plus for this particular back brace is how strong the velcro is and how well it supports your back and sides. I wore this as I helped my husband move out of the corporate apartment and was hauling boxes, bending up and down picking up and placing heavy n lightweight stuff for 7 hours straight. The back brace stayed on perfectly and kept my back from being in pain. This is an excellent brace. Well worth it. I love the lavender color as well. One important aspect is to make sure you buy the correct size for your waist size. ... show more

I have a spinal problem that causes me a lot of pain. Prescription items are bulky and heavy under clothes. For years I've tried various support systems that *almost* don't have problems of pinching or bulk or riding up. Although this item is for women I ignored that and went with the size. I'm glad I did! This back brace is stretchy and light. The "Y" shaped pad is attached by very fine hook and loop to the inside of the band so you can adjust where it sits. The entire brace is elastic and easy to fasten in the front. Then you grab the side straps and pull to the front to stick anywhere you find comfort and support. I WILL be buying more! ... show more

I felt immediate relief putting this on! I've been going to PT for SI joint problems and have had a lot of lower back pain recently. Things are improving, and it is nice to have this brace as a help. I wore it for about three hours today and it was comfortable enough to totally forget about it. It definitely helps with posture. I don't plan on wearing it all the time, because I want to strengthen the necessary muscles and not be dependent on a brace, but sometimes you just need a break from the pain.
