I picked them up last minute for a snowboarding trip. I’m a larger guy with an athletic build (6’3, 260), and after reading some of the other reviews, I decided to go with the 40W/31L option. My normal pants size is 38/32. The fit was amazing. They were a little loose in the waist, but it wasn’t anything a belt couldn’t fix. I was a little concerned that they’d be tight on my quads and glutes, but that was not an issue at all. The stretch of the pants allowed me to move freely and easily on the board. The pockets and zippers are solid, and I was able to store my water pouch, chapstick, and cell phone with ease. The pants are incredibly warm. Even though there isn’t an inner lining, I had no issues with getting snow in my boots as the pant bottoms fit snugly over my boots. My only complaint - the pants are incredibly loud when walking. But, it was only really noticeable when walking indoors. Solid pants. Would purchase again. ... show more

I wore these pants to a watch a Patriots game in Massachusetts. It was raining and it was very cold in December. These pants kept me perfectly warm, they were comfortable, and they kept me dry after being rained on for hours. Additionally I loved the zipper pockets, this gave me comfort that my cellphone wasn’t going to fall out. Taking it to a football stadium in the cold rain is not it’s intended use, but it worked admirably. I wear a 38x32 and so that’s what I ordered. It was true to size. ... show more

I’ve been wanting a Sitka or first lite style stretchable pant for scouting and hunting but I didn’t want to spend north of $100. I’m a big guy 6-4 275 big rump, thighs, and calves. Street wear is usually 38x32 or 40x34 depending on cut of the pants. Needless to say, I don’t do “skinny jeans” I read some older reviews saying small fit and ordered the 42x31.5 hoping they would either fit perfectly or preferably be oversized to layer with poly or wool long johns. I got the latter. They fit and look great and I will be ordering the next size down to have a more firm fitting “athletic performance” fit. Very very satisfied. I just used these in iceland and I can't speak highly enough for them. Truly spectacular pair of pants, and fits properly on me I wear 38/40s with a butt. . I had to return another pair form another company as their sizes were too snug. I still wore long base layer underneath, but probably could have gone without. LIterally stood under a waterfall, forged a river, and went into a glacier with these and they were dry / dried and wicked like they were supposed to. Better than having to pack ski bibs. Would definitely order again, and will look forward to using them when i take my scouts hiking this winter ... show more

These are a nice pair of hiking pants for those who want to use and abuse their pants in the wild. Not only are they a nice mix of stylish/affordable/quality, but they are also waterproof and durable. I wore them fishing and hiking and love them. See the different review categories below: Zippers: These pants have a solid, durable zipper that you can tug on and not feel like it is going to bind or rip. The zippers feel like they are made of quality material and you can really wrench on them to get them to close if you are in a bind and need to open your pocket to get a pair of pliers out while holding a fish in your other hand or close them up to keep something from falling out. No worries here. Material: The material feels like a softer neoprene to the touch. They are definitely waterproof and could even be coated for more reassurance. They don't seem like they would rip easily but might wear down with enough kneeling and scraping. They are affordable pants though, which warrants the material they are made of. What would you expect out of a pair of hiking pants, they can't be the best of all worlds. Fit: They are true to size and might feel a bit big when you get them, I thought the same thing. After wearing them in the cold I realized that they fit exactly like I would want them to, a touch bulky with enought room to move around in while also providing enough room for movability and enough material for warmth. They are exactly what I want them to be. Inner Material: The inner fleece feels nice on the skin. It isn't irritataing and glides while still maintaining warmth. Breathability: These pants BREATHE!!!!! Enough said. I wore them for 5 hours straight while fishing out in 59F weather and then feel asleep on the couch in them after coming home for a couple hours and didn't break a sweat once nor was I cold. They have more than enough airflow. I would recommend these pants through and through. Look: I mean......come on.......these look really cool. ... show more

    • "Big boy snow pants" work well for snow blowing and shoveling in cold and wind
I live north of Buffalo, NY and we get our share of "lake effect" snow that requires regular use of my Honda 724 snow blower. I tried an Australian "dredger" coat, Gore Tex pants, Teflon coated 5:11 tactical pants and regular jeans and they are all too thin, are not wind resistant or leak. These Free Soldier pants are water and wind proof, heavier grade, insulated and have all zipper pockets to prevent snow fill. When it's snowing 2 inches an hour with 40mph winds, running a snow blower is a real adventure and these new snow pants have been very helpful to stay dry and warm. I could also see these pants being useful for outdoor sporting events like football games (post COVID). They run a bit long. I'm a 38 waist with a 32 inseam on most everything and the 32 inseam on these pants is about 2 inches too long. Hope that helps! ... show more
