    • Can't get it to start.
After many attempts I failed to get this engine to start, even after replacing the spark plug with the better NGK equivalent. Only got it to run once for about 20 seconds on the first ride, and after that, with me pedaling as fast and as long possible, several times a day, over several days, I couldn't start it. Ended up pulling it off the bike and replacing with a 4 stroke motor that started and ran right away in order to get the bike on the road. I am putting it on a different bike now, and will probably keep trying to start it until either it starts, or I run out of advice from the motorized bike forum, and/or patience and give up. ... show more

    • Nothing but problems from day 1
I have had nothing but problems from day one with this kit. First time riding, the muffler internals falls out while going down the road. Then after 15 minutes of riding, the magneto and coil goes out. I was not even running it at half speed. Replace all 3 items, Ride it for a few days... 15 to 20 minutes each time, at about half speed and another break down The coil has now overheated again, and needs to be replaced. On top of that the throttle handle breaks internally (cheap plastic) was not even running when this happened. I was just walking the bike to where I store it. I seriously have had nothing but issues with this kit. and have invested more money into it than what it cost me originally. 1x new carb 2x new coils 1x new muffler 1x new magneto 1x new throttle assembly Have tested top speed 1 time, and its top speed was only 25mph using a police radar gun to confirm the speed. What I like about this motor is how helpful it was when everything was built and put together in side the package when I opened it so I can understand a little more on where all the washers, screws, and bolts went. Then I dislike how the the chain was loose and kept getting caught even when I tightened or taken of some of the chain links to where the chain would be a perfect size to fit. When I would check to make sure everything was tightened down and all the sprocket kept on loosening on me. And I think there might have been a few more issues with this motor it's a struggle. ... show more

I took about 3-4 hours setting this up and when I tried to start it the engine wouldn't start. I checked and double checked that everything was done right but it just didn't start. A total waste of money. Do not buy this engine! Update: the clutch was slipping. I took it to a repair shop and the guy had to take it apart and change the sprocket and some other things. When it arrived parts were loosely lying around in the box. I put this engine on a 26” huffys men’s beach cruiser.The bottom studs that mount to the bottom part of the bike frame are to short and you will not be able to clamp your motor to secure it I went to autozone and had to buy studs that had the same thread pitch but we’re longer and I used the same metal strap that was provided how ever the mounting holes were to small and I had to make them bigger with a drill bit to be able to make it fit properly so that way you don’t damage your threads on your studs.make sure you use blue thread locker on the studs and nuts to avoid them coming loose.The instructions are not clear at all and the way it describes to wire the bike up makes no sense sense the colors of the wires don’t match the picture to what you got with your kit just google motorized bicycles wiring digrams this will save you lots of time.It sates it can be built in little as 2 hours that’s a lie and impossible,realistically this is 2-3 day job to assemble correctly.You will need lots of tools and lists of mechanical experience and knowledge to assemble this engine not recommended for children under 16 I’d say in my opinion.You will need to buy a better cnc hub assembly for your wheel to last as the stock kit provides a kit that you mount threw the spokes to attach the rear sprocket this is the best way to put lots of torque on wheel spokes that weren’t meant to handle that amount of torque on that area of the wheel and it will break bend destroy your wheel in time and now you will also need to buy another wheel as a result of this.You will need a chain breaker which does not state in the description all bicycles are different styles and sizes the chain will always come cut to fit. My build required two chain rollers the stock one wasn’t enough so I got the after market one that attaches to the engine casing and ran both and this was much smoother then just the one,With the upgraded chain roller you will need to grind down the bolts in some cases so that the crank of the pedal will clear when rotating.You in some cases are going to need to modify your bicycle when can include grinding as hammer metal inward for clearance for parts to fit correctly.On a beach style bicycle that have the fenders over the wheels your chain from the motor side will rub due to a clearance issues remove it and chop off what’s in the way I did mine to the middle bolt and reassemble still have the fender and have the clearance and not a bad look.Make sure you grease inside of your twist throttle where the the throttle cable attaches to with some type of greases I just used brake pad greases and shoot some lubricant down the throttle cable like this will allow the throttle cable to move and spring back much better and will help avoid throttle stick.You will need zip ties,grinder,a variety of different size sockets & wrench’s,needle nose pliers,wire cutters,channel locks,screw drivers,hammer.Use spray hair spray to attach the other handle bar grip works like a charm mine was from the dollar store.
