This is perfect for the price! The pitches are inconsistent but that makes it even better for practicing for the real games. My son is 7 and prefers this over hand pitching. It pitches about every 7-8 seconds and makes practicing fun for a fraction of the price. We use it for batting AND catching! I bought this unit to help my 7 and 8 year old become better at tracking the ball. Dollar for dollar you cannot beat this machine, but there are some drawbacks. WHAT IT DOES WELL: • Serves balls from 20~ feet • Adjusts for pitch angle, can be propped up to toss pop flies • Develops reaction time from the 7 second pitch timer WHAT IT DOES POORLY: • DRINKS BATTERIES. I got a set of rechargeable D cell batteries and they have to be recharged after every session or there is a noticeable lack of power in the pitches • The balls wear quickly and fly unevenly with only about 100 reps. Balls also do not have red seams so it is hard to see any rotation on the ball • The feed mechanism is a little janky and does not always have enough gravity to feed the next ball Overall this is a great entry level training tool - by far the best one I have bought so far. If your kids are new to the game, or just need something to help them get over fear of the ball flying at them, this is a good unit. For what its worth, both my kids have been clocked in the face by this machine and shrugged it off after the initial shock, which is worth its weight in gold for a developing player ... show more

At first it sounded like a good idea, but after about a half an hour this pitching machine was more of a troubleshooting guessing game. The cons 1) finding the strike zone is a guessing game 2) once you find an "AREA" to place it the pitching machince moves a little every pitch offsetting the "AREA" and the strike zone 3) the strike zone varies around a 5 foot radius over home plate 4) once you find an "AREA" to put it, something to stable the machine from moving, find a zone to pitch in, now we run into the problem of battery power. The power starts to drain causing a whole new set of problems. Pros 1) makes a great ball launcher for my dog The pitching machine is not very good for batting practice but I made use of it anyway. ... show more

He was very behind compared to the other kids..I would throw to him but I was always scared of getting hit so I got this product. You can direct it where to shoot the ball from it's always right down the middle ans you get I belive 4 or 5 balls . I def recommend ... show more
