This Frabill is a great net!!! It's my third net of this type. The first one was the smaller foldable type that I gave away to my bass fishing buddy, when I ordered this larger 22x20 net. The bass guy loved the smaller net because it folded up real nice and compact for his smaller 18ft Bass Boat. The second larger net I tripped over it after landing a fish in my boat and broke it! It wasn't the nets fault. I also have a 18 foot fishing boat as well as Kayaks, and I prefer the larger opening of this 22"x20" net for both fishing craft. Yep, even for my Kayak this net folds and stows excellent!!! It's nice to have the extra reach and dimensions of the net itself encase you happen to hook into a larger fish. You wont be sorry! The construction and materials of the net, Aluminum handles, plastic fittings at hoop, and mesh net was fine. If I were to trip over this net like the clumsy person I was, and break this one again, I would still order another one. It wasn't the construction of this net that caused it to break, I mean I tripped over this net real hard, causing me to go flying! It's a great folding net!!! ... show more

The size of the hoop is fantastic for me. I use it kayak fishing and it's frame and function are fantastic. I haven't had a king salmon in it yet, but it seems study enough. The netting is pretty terrible. It's like traditional nets that snag hooks and are a pain in the butt. This net material has small holes and is much closer together so you catch a TON more hooks in more of the net. I'll be spraying mine with spray rubber. I wish frabill would offer a replacement or upgrade to a rubberized material that's better for the fish too. ... show more

Easy to carry along the bank. Folds and unfolds quickly. Landed many Lake Erie tributary Stealhead. Strong net don’t pay attention to reviews that net is to weak.

This net is nearly perfect for kayak bass fishing. I have been using this net for the past 6 months or so now and have had no major issues with it so far. I can say from first hand experience though it does NOT float for very long (most nets don't) regardless I would be conscious of this. All things considered it's a great net though for the price. It stores nice and small and extends out nicely as well. I've caught several 5+ lb fish and landed with this net without any issue. ... show more

I like this net a lot. Not much to say about it in terms of use, it does what it was meant to do. The only reason why it gets 4 stars is because it feels kinda flimsy. How it folds together, with a plastic break at the tip of the net so it can collapse, feels like the weakest part. But just being able to throw it into a backpack with only the handle sticking out is amazing enough in itself. Also, the plastic flip on the handle that (i assume) is suppose to hold the extendable hand in place, doesnt do its job at all. Im still able to push the telescoping handle into itself with ease even though the lever is flipped down. Maybe others wont have this problem, i dont know, i dont care either. ... show more

This net was good, but it's a little more flimsy than what I was hoping. It will still function fine as a net, but if you are raking the bottom of a pond (catching frogs or something) then it may bend/break if you get too much muck in it. The collapsing part is also very convenient when packing for vacation and traveling. If you are catching butterflies, birds, fish, frogs, rodents, crabs, etc...this net is perfect. It's not good minnows, guppies, or little stuff like that. The holes are about .25" diameter, which allows little things to slip out. A witty moth could probably escape as well. ... show more

I bought this net for a recent Boundary Waters trip. We mostly landed northern pike, and some of the bigger ones almost broke the handle. I would recommend this more for panfish and fish up to 20" or so. Also, you have to make sure which way the net is opening from the hinge on the handle - if the hinge is facing downward and you grab a fish, it could weigh it down enough to collapse! I almost lost a nice fish that way. Otherwise, I was easily able to fold this up and stick it on the side of my backpacking pack during the trip. Great net. ... show more
