All the pieces came in in good shape. Directions were very easy to follow. Took me about two hours to build it alone. Seems very sturdy and holds a lot. This bookshelf is made of "engineered wood" (particle board), but seems to be of much higher quality than old particle board standards. I couldn't believe how heavy the box was considering how small it was, when it arrived. It is definitely a 2-person job to move it into the room you want. Building directions are clear and there are plenty of extra fasteners, but be warned that there are SO MANY PIECES to put together. I painted several of the pieces before building it up, to give it some more flair... It was a fun jigsaw puzzle project, and the final product looks wonderful! ... show more

The item itself is exactly what it is pictured. it is very sturdy! and the instructions for assembly was flawless! it was very clear and I didn't make any mistakes while assembling it. (typically I make some mistakes and have to go back and redo it.) but the directions were super clear (though it could have used some words in the directions but it was all pictures, which is fine since I am definitely a visual learner) There were many parts to assemble and it took about a couple of hours however the result was worth it! Also all the pre-drilled holes fit like a glove and the manufacturer really thought through the details, for example they even put spacers to drill onto the backside of the backboard so that it would push the backboard forward against the shelves so that when you put books on shelves, it won't push the backboard and bow out (I've never seen this in some the other similar shelves that I've put together). It was very well made in my opinion as far as these flatpack furniture goes. But my hand was shot afterward from all the screws I had to put in, there were definitely two blisters (probably would have been better if I had used a power drill for some of the screws). It is exactly what we needed to get the book situation under control in our house. I am extremely happy with the result, definitely worth the money and it looks great! ... show more

Took me about 2.5 hours to put together by myself. There was a lot of pieces but it was well worth it! It is just as the picture and I am very happy with my purchase. My initial purchase was missing the parts to put together but I messaged the seller and they were generous enough to send me a whole new box!
