I bought this for my nieces, and they loved it! It was delivered in a large box that had minor damage on the outside but fortunately no pieces were damaged or missing. It took a few hours for two people to assemble, and just like Ikea furniture only had pictures to follow. But they were clear and easy to follow. Once assembled, it’s pretty sturdy and is perfect for kids that aren’t too big or heavy. (Think toddlers and kids under 10, I think any older/bigger than that will probably be uncomfortable.) It fits twin sized mattresses, but does require a special “low profile” bunk bed mattress that is only 5in thick. Traditional mattresses will be too thick, but there are 5in thick memory foam mattresses that fit perfectly. Fortunately, Amazon sells these for ~$80/each. The built in slats that go under the mattresses are very spread out and over time will not be very supportive. You may consider placing a good quality piece of plywood under the mattress for more support. The slide is just awesome! It is a bit steep and the surface is fairly slick and fast. I suggest putting a rug and something soft in the landing zone, and be sure that there isn’t a wall (or door knob) too close to the landing area. ... show more

Hurricane Helene hit my hometown with a vengeance. My freshly turned 3 year old sleeps on the bottom bunk of this Max & Lily low bunk bed. Three pine trees AT LEAST 150ft tall and 2.5 to 3 feet in diameter fell right on top of my baby’s room, cause the ceiling to collapse and all of the roofing, the insulation and the ceiling to fall on top of the bed. THE TOP BUNK SAVED HER LIFE!!!! The sturdiness of this bed is absolutely top notch!!! Now, it’s been drenched in rain and fiberglass insulation, so I can’t salvage it, but I would recommend this bed, or any bed from Max & Lily for that matter, to absolutely anyone. It is well built and safe, while being cute and fun for kids of all ages. You would think by looking at her room, that the top bunk would have collapsed on top of her, but by the grace of God and the Max & Lily designers/creators, my baby is alive and well. 100% recommend! The slide and ladder are definitely fun and exciting for all kids. Both of my daughters and their friends love having the slide and playing on the bed!     • My 3 year old finally sleeps through the night in his own bed!

We are not sleep training parents. We snuggle to sleep and ninja out. Inevitably, our kid would end up in our bed at 2 am and I was too tired to do anything about it. Sleep was more precious that consistency. Enter this amazing bunk bed, a gift for our newly minted 3 year old. I looked for one that could withstand kid activity for years to come. I hate buying junk! This is wood, not solid but composite, still way better than cheap MDF or others. Instructions were labeled well & parts were numbered. I put this together alone in a few hours with "helpful distractions" from my toddler. He loves this bed more than anything he's ever loved. It's a pirate ship, a castle, a fort, a jungle gym, a relaxing reading lounge. He hasn't stopped playing in it and the BEST part is he's excited to sleep in it! We told him adults are too big for his cool bed and he just went with it. It's low enough that we can stand comfortably for stories and good night hugs. Kiddo hasn't tried to get in our bed once in two weeks and now sleeps through the ENTIRE night. Best purchase ever. The only con I've found is the slide angle is too steep so he is scared of it. If I purchased again I'd skip the slide version. Though, it is fun for stuffed animals to go down. ... show more

    • Easier to Build Than it Looks

When UPS first dropped the bed off, I asked if there was another box, as I couldn't believe that the tiny, but heavy, package could hold the entire bunk bed. Well, it does, and this is because you're assembling every little piece on this bed. I'm used to most bed kits having the head, feet, and side boards already in sections, meaning the picket slats are already held by the top and bottom braces. This bunk bed, on the other hand, has you assembling every little detail of the bed. However, with all this said, it appears much more daunting than it actually is. I, alone, built the entire bunk bed with ladder and slide in about 3.5 hours. The trickiest part is what I mentioned before about the head/foot boards, where you need to get all interior slats to line up between the top and bottom braces. The only part that you really need two people for is connecting side rails to the assembled head and foot boards (I was able to do this by myself using a crib and dresser to wedge the headboard between while I worked on connecting a rail to the foot board). Now that it's all assembled, the bed is really strong and sturdy without any wobble. The slide is much steeper than I imagined, though, so will be placing some soft material at the base of it. Anyways, my girls, who are three and five, absolutely love this bed. ... show more
