  • 4.0 out of 5 stars pretty clear magnifying glasses
Color: Gunmetal/Transparent Magnification Strength: 2 x
Less distortion than other readers, appear very sturdy. They're a bit heavier than the all plastic versions, but once on my nose I don't notice.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Very well made
Color: Gunmetal/Transparent Magnification Strength: 2.5 x
This review is after about 2 weeks of wear. These are very sturdy over the counter reading glasses. The frame around the lens and the hinge is metallic (appears to be a heavy duty aluminum), the legs appears to be a hard glossy acrylic/plastic. Can't tell if the core is metallic with the plastic just an overlay or if they are just solid plastic, but they appear very sturdy in any case. Have not seen any scratches at all from normal wear though I've not abused them or dropped them. The hinge is flexible which means it will bend beyond a 90 degree angle that normal glasses stop at (in case you have a larger than normal head) though I obviously won't recommend going crazy pushing this flexibility. I've been using Foster Grant reading glasses pretty much exclusively (ever since I've started needing reading glasses) and this particular model appears to be more sturdy than the other FG glasses (I've used the Ironman model up until now). It is slightly on the heavy side (probably due to the metal frame) but not so much that it's been noticeable for me, but that's just me. It comes with a thick fabric case and a cleaning cloth. The case indicates that this is actually a e-reader even though it doesn't explicitly say so on the listing itself. I've seen this same pair in the stores and they are e-reader glasses. That means they are designed to help reduce the strain of staring at computer screens and mobile devices that 'normal' reading glasses don't help with. That was why I actually bought these on Amazon...I saw these in a local drugstore first. Took a chance that the Amazon version is also an e-reader and pleasantly surprised it was. So far these readers have been working well. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing optics on the 1.00, a bit heavy
Color: Gunmetal/Transparent Magnification Strength: 1 x
I had the Samson e.Reader for a little more than 2 years when one of the temples broke (just snapped off when I was putting it on). Bought this as a replacement. Initial assessment: Pro: clarity optics is amazing. I had 2 pairs of really cheap plastic blue light readers (also Amazon purchasers), and the lens on this Donovan is a clearly better product. No glare. Very easy with little eye strain (I’m on the computer the entire day for work). Very clear vision. Pro: build Very sturdy plastic and aluminum construction. The temple design seems better than the Samson, which snapped at a connection point near the bend (the Samson temple has 2 parts whereas the Donovan is 1 piece). Lens is clear, clean, no blemishes. Con: weight The trade off on better construction is the weight. Definitely heavier, even comparing to the Donovan. Having it on for so many hours per day may take its toll. Not entirely sure yet but will update in a few weeks if use. Knocking 1 star off due to noticeable heavier weight. ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Not the Donovan's
Color: Gunmetal/Transparent Magnification Strength: 1.5 x
So received a pair of blue light blockers and not the Donovan's I ordered. In fairness they are pretty nice but are of limited use to me being +1.00 and not the +1.50 I ordered and I have no need for blue light blocking. All in all pretty disappointed.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great glasses, goofy hinges
Color: Gunmetal/Transparent Magnification Strength: 2.75 x
Foster Grant does a very odd thing. Unlike nearly every other pair of glasses you have ever seen there is not a screw on each side at the frame/arm meeting place. There are instead these odd bolts that LOOK like screws but never tighten. 🙄 So they feel loose right out of the box and its impossible to do anything about it. I actually sent a pair back because I assumed they were defective but that is bizarrely how they are made. The brand new pair had the same issue. Other than that little weird thing the glasses are great for the price point. Clear glass, decent frames, they get the job done. ... show more

Nice glasses, they are made very well, and are great for reading and computer work. I use 150 Mag .and that's perfect for me.
