  • BUYER BEWARE!!! Things aren't always as they are promised!
Where do I start,......First of all if you are looking for this intake to have an actual Ford part number molded into it,.........FORGET IT!!! (1st red flag) Although it does have "Made in America" molded into the plastic on the underside. If you are looking for this intake to have ALL BRASS INSERTS installed again FORGET IT!!! (2nd red flag) If you expect to find the the sticker (as shown on the box in the description photos) once again,......FORGET IT!!! (3rd red flag) These (3 strikes if you will) have me questioning 1 of 2 things,.......has Ford REALLY sold out on their quality standards to the point where they are subcontracting to Dorman (or another low level supplier) or did Amazon re box a Dorman part to fulfill the order??? Either way it would appear that what I received (AFTER THREE WEEKS OF WAITING) was a DORMAN (or it's equivalent) intake manifold!!! I SPECIFICALLY ordered THIS manifold to replace an original because of the quality issues with the aftermarket manifolds. If I was willing to settle for the inferior quality aftermarket intakes then I could have gone to any of the chain stores locally and bought the SAME THING (that I ACTUALLY received from Amazon) and NOT had to wait for 3 weeks or had to pay DOUBLE THE PRICE!!! In addition if you look at the recent reviews for this intake (since July of 2021) it is appearing as though that this manifold (substitution???) is becoming the rule rather than the exception! To be fair here,......I contacted Amazon and they quickly issued me a FULL REFUND (tax and shipping included) So at least Amazon stepped up and ATTEMPTED to make it right. But the fact remains,..... my truck has been down for 3 weeks and (at the moment) it appears as though it won't be back together any time soon due to the fact that the particular manifold (that I thought I ordered) is now NOT AVALIABLE (through Amazon or anywhere else I have checked so far)!!! Is it because of complaints becoming FAR MORE COMMON and "MAYBE" FORD is reconsidering it's decision??? (even the on line FORD dealers are showing out of stock or backordered) Hmmmm!??? My only hope is that I can still find one SOMEWHERE,........and SOON! In closing I wish to thank Amazon for AT LEAST TRYING to make it right by stepping up and quickly issuing me a full refund (WITHOUT a major fight) I also wish to thank the aftermarket for producing complete and total junk as an alternative replacement! Finally I wish to thank the Ford Motor Company for designing and building an engine with a FRICKEN PLASTIC intake manifold, a piss poor design for the sparkplug threads into the head ( I.E. the sparkplugs have been known to completely blow out of the head while driving down the road)........among other things. At least they don't make cars that explode when rear ended anymore (the PINTO) THANKS FORD!!! To bad there isn't an option for NO STARS as part of the review! But I can honestly give ONE because of Amazon's response to my issue. ... show more

  • Get this one... don't waste your time with aftermarket...
I needed an intake manifold for my 2001 F250 5.4. I looked back between the aftermarket versions and an OEM replacement. Probably for a couple of weeks... all I was looking for was an aftermarket manifold with threaded inserts for the coil packs and used the standard gasket. I couldn't find one. I was not about to trust the set tapping bolts for the coil packs... I am glad I didn't it's hard enough to get some of the threaded one on. I also didn't want a manifold that used a different type of gasket than OE. For the price difference, go with this one... it's about $70 more and you need a gasket set also... but it will last another 20 years. The aftermarket ones... go read the reviews.. they are changing them every other year. ok, so what else can you replace while you are in there? definitely change the thermostat and don't forget the o-ring for the thermostat. If you haven't changed your plugs and coil packs, maybe while you are in there. When re-assembling, screw down the coils before putting the fuel rail back on.... #7 is a pita if you put the fuel rail on first, like I did... ended up pulling the 2 screws on that side of the rail and moving the rail out of the way, after fustzing with it for 1/2 hour trying to get down one screw. Take your time, keep everything clean, remove all traces of the old gasket. I used a razor scraper, like you would use to remove a state inspection sticker to scrap really clean, try to keep the scrapings out of the intake ports... Good luck and make sure you get the OEM manifold. ... show more

  • Get the one with the inserts - you won't be sorry...
This worked as advertised and I am glad I went with this one. I went back and forth over this or the Dorman option. The reviews regarding the use of the self tapping screws for the attached items was the deal breaker. So glad I went with this one. A little more expensive but the peace of mind that the insert gave was worth it. construction was solid and no problem torquing all bolts to spec. The only thing that threw me a little was the insulating plastic cover that was installed on the bottom. Looked about and could not find a reason for it. The OEM one did not have it and I tried setting it in with it on (thought it might be sound deadening insulation) and it was tight but seemed like it might fit. After some thought I just took it off and tossed it. Fit like a champ without it. I am not worried about any intake noise and it is very quiet anyway. After a good clean the installation was actually very easy if you are methodical. One thing I did do - swapped a couple of vacuum lines that were close together - ran like crap until I went back an figured out what I did. After that ran better than before and no more error codes. All in all - great product and easy install. ... show more

  • Intake Works GREAT! Seller was fast.
I ordered the OEM replacement rather that the cheap knock off due to loss of power concerns. It took two half days to install, clean up the engine bay, fix minor vacuum leaks, replace hoses on radiator and heater core. I should have taken the time to do the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs all the accessories are off and out of the way! With a radiator drain and refill, transmission drain and refill, cleaned MAF, AND my new intake manifold, my truck runs like it did 100,000 miles ago. Currently at 188,000 miles, feels strong. Thanks for the manifold! There is a great video on youtube from 1AA-Auto, watch it if you are mechanically inclined. Job took me 12 hours on two separate days. Now if I could only get better than 13mpg. ... show more

  • Ford OEM
Cant beat OEM in most cases - specifically in this case. Only 4 stars do to the pricing so much higher over others, though this one was fastest to deliver so went with higher price.
