There is no suction for this. It is convenient to bring out to restaurants however, there are better alternatives out there if your baby likes to pick up plates. The latch is not fully secure and can come out with a slight wiggle.

I was looking forward to this plate so much however it’s a NO for me. I got this for my one year old son and as soon as I opened the packaging I realized it wasn’t going to work. The first thing I don’t like is that because it folds there is no way to separate the entree sections from the side dishes . The food will be all mixed together causing a mess. 2. I purchased this because I liked the idea that it folded in half for easy storage since our baby doesn’t usually finish her meals in one sitting. This feature is great and works perfectly. No spills. The downside to this product is it has absolutely no suction as advertised whatsoever.
