  • 90% of the EasyRig for 25% of the price
As a shooter who is very familiar with all sorts of handheld rigs from the EasyRig to the MarzPak, I found this to be quite a nice setup at a very good price. There are a few improvements that this could use, but overall, I'd say it's comparable to a higher-end EasyRig. Weight-wise, the 500N version works nicely for a Red Epic with v-batt, small mattebox, rods, follow-focus, and Red LCD. Also works very nicely for a stripped-down 5Diii on a Movi/Ronin rig with a SmallHD 6" LCD. The 500N resistance is probably a little too 'strong' for a bare DSLR setup (unless the camera is built up a bit with v-batt/mattebox/rods/LCD/etc to give it more weight). Like an expensive EasyRig, the resistance is controlled within the arm and if you get one with the correct weight resistance for your camera, you can simply move the camera to the height you want and it will stay. This rig doesn't have a cheap bouncy bundy-cord feel, but more of a 'hydraulic' type resistance feel similar to what you'd expect from panning a good fluid-head tripod. I've used this on a handful of shoots and I'm very happy with its performance. PROS: -Looks professional... comparable to a higher-end EasyRig -Overall construction is of good quality -Offered in varying strengths for different camera sizes. I purchased the 500N version, which seems to be a good 'common' strength for most medium-sized cameras (Epic, F3/F5/F55, C-300). -Weight resistance is smooth and strong -Vest is comfortable and built well CONS: -The overhead resistance arm doesn't 'lock' into the vest, but rather sits in using gravity. It hasn't been a huge issue, but it has popped out quite a few times when transporting or suiting up. -The waist belt needs more padding on the front of the lower strap. There is tons of padding in the rear, but not in the front, which is where the camera tends to apply the most pressure. I solved this by cutting slits in a sheet of 1mm plastic and threading the belt through the slits. Something like a weightlifting belt may be a good idea too. -Rig doesn't fit in the included duffle bag. The support arm sticks out by about a foot. -The back side of the support arm doesn't clamp firmly onto the vest. Even when the clamp bolts were fully tightened, the arm tended to slide downward. Some rubber spacers solved the problem, but I was surprised this hadn't been previously addressed. ... show more

My sting broke. Is there a place to get a stronger replacement?

  • Poor build, poor design
Poor build, poor design. The attachements are cheap and non practical (hard to adjust). The whole Support feels like a poorly designed backpack with cheap materials. This could be so much better, especially as that price.

  • Sweet deal.
I tried a c300 with cp2 lens and 2 mons mounted and the rig took the weight. I went handsfree and could hardly feel the weight hanging from the rig. My back and hips didn't really feel it.
