  • like the location of the power button doesn't let it ...
Size: Standard Kit
This toner has major flaws that render it impotent. Other reviewers have said exactly what I experienced - the pins and readout don't always match. This is the only important thing that matters. It does have some positive features, like the location of the power button doesn't let it turn on accidentally inside the case like my other toners do. The build quality seems to be high... but that doesn't matter if it can't do it's job right. I often found that it reads pins that aren't even being used. I'll have only pin 1 on a wall jack and it reads out 3. When I replace the pin 1 to pin 8 or something, it will read out correctly. This is the worst failure that could happen, more so than cheap build quality or wasting battery. It means I can never be sure if the readout is correct. I don't think I'll even keep this around as a backup. I'll sell it for cheap to a DIY-er who can afford to tone cables one at a time. To be fair, it didn't misread every time. It was probably 10% of the time. But I use toners as my livelihood, so I demand better. I thought fluke was a reputable name but apparently they just manufactured the old gale toners under the fluke name. IIRC, It even says gale inside the connector. 2/5 because it wasn't DOA, but isn't a professional tool which is uncharacteristic of Fluke. ... show more

  • I used this daily for a few weeks..........not that great
Size: Cable Kit
I install satellite dish systems, constantly tracing coax cables every day. I have been on a constant search for a reliable cable mapper for large home with On Q panels or lots of rooms to connect and track down. At first, the ID caps worked great, I was excited to finally find a mapper that actually worked and identified the locations correctly. Within the first week I started having trouble with one of the ID caps, number 8 would show up as number 1, So I stopped using it. Soon, more and more of the ID caps stop working correctly, sending back the wrong number and costing me time and money and also frustrating me. Now it works well as a single line pocket toner, but you can get a reliable pocket toner for 15$ For me, I would not purchase this again, ever. I would not suggest it for professional use. It may be ok for home owner use, maybe one of those things you buy and only use once or twice in a lifetime, other than that it just sits on a shelf in the garage, in infinite brand new condition. If you are a professional, looking for an industrial tool to use on a daily basis.......... keep searching. ... show more

  • I'm use this almost on a daily basis for cable installs and bought it to easily tone multiple lines
Size: Telephone and Cable Kit
When it works it saves me time. When it doesn't, I waist a lot of time. I'm use this almost on a daily basis for cable installs and bought it to easily tone multiple lines. It works great most of the time but sometimes it gives me the wrong reading- example: the lcd says it's the line with nr.4 toner on it, to find out later it's was actually 3 or 5. I never use the nr.1 toner since is always comes up as 2 on the lcd, so I always go from 8 down. Never sure if it's giving me the correct info when using it. Will not buy it again if I have to buy another toner. ... show more

  • Cable guys best friend.
Size: Cable Kit
People been complaining in comments that these don't work right but i love mine. As a Spectrum Field Tech i use this on everyday jobs. They conveniently fit onto a 4way splitter and inside of my Toughbuilt bags. (Which are awesome btw!)

  • Excellent
Size: Voice and Video Pro Kit
Very nice and works very well. Some users complain that it gives the wrong number I have not had this problem however if you’re going through junctions or branches it will give a different number because of the resistance difference works very well very pleased with this.

  • Shipped Incomplete 2x
Size: Voice and Video Pro Kit
3 Start because I ordered this 2 times and they were incomplete 1st time I received the unit it was missing half the parts listed (8 RJ-11 adapters, RJ-45 adapter, alligator clips with RJ11 and RJ-45 adapters) 2nd time as well So I decided to get my money back, contact Fluke to confirm what comes in the box and order it from another supplier. As far as how the unit works, its excellent, well made, foam insert its quite cheap and wears off easily. Easy to use. I take care of my tools so this will last me a very long time. ... show more

  • Expensive not worth it
Size: Cable Kit
Unpredictable at best I use this professionally it may or may not tone also it will not tone through splitters. It will turn off immediately if it comes on at all. Have to use a pencil eraser to clean battery contacts. The barrel sleeve is very weak and will fall off and end up bending the stinger

  • It's a nice kit-- but if you're primarily dealing with RJ45
Size: Deluxe Kit
It's a nice kit-- but if you're primarily dealing with RJ45, you'll need to buy a full set of adapters to help with your tracing/identifying needs.
