  • Fantastic alternative to glue guns!
My daughter and I have been making flower barrettes (and other things requiring hot glue) for some time now and we had always used glue guns, even though they got hot, molten glue in places you did not want hot, molten glue, with stringy bits that clung to all of the flowers, and just a mess whenever they were used. But they got the job done so why change? Then I started seeing these glue pots popping up and while I was intrigued, it took me way to long to actually get one. Now I wonder why I waited for so long? They make gluing flowers together so much easier and all of the extra glue can get thrown back into the pot and get re-melted instead of wasted. And clean up is a BREEZE - just pop that glue blob out or leave it in the pot in preparation for your next hot gluing adventures. The glue pot melts glue quickly, even when using glue sticks instead of glue pellets (as I've mentioned, we've been using the glue guns for years so I have many, MANY glue sticks....) The bar across the top is VERY nice for wiping off the excess glue, something that is not possible with the traditional glue guns. The only issue is it is basically an electric skillet and when it reaches it's desired temp, it shuts off the heating element so the glue becomes less glue-y and less sticky. It's still usable and it only lasts a little while before heating up to the more user-friendly molten glue temp. It's a nice reminder to take a break from gluing. :D Overall, it's a nice glue pot and I am glad I finally got one - it makes hot gluing so much easier. ... show more

  • Variable Temperature
This was bigger than I thought it would be, but that makes it handy for floral crafts. I am using it for paper, so it is a bigger size than I need. That being said, it does not get too hot to touch on the outside and the variable temperature control means that you can leave it at a lower temperature. It heats up super quick, unlike my little glue pot. Also the non-stick finish means that it will not turn into a mess where I was constantly trying to pull off dried glue to stick back into the glue pot. I just cut up my glue stick and lay it on the surface. No fiddling around pushing the glue stick down into the pot. I have tried several glue guns and they all drip glue out the spout when not wanted. This is by far the best I have used, other than the size. I would give it five stars if I was using it for floral work. ... show more

  • Compact Glue Pool for Bathing Things That Need to Stick to Other Things
I've only ever used a glue gun to put together crafts, so I thought this would be an interesting addition to the toolset for crafting when working with many things that need glue but you want to do it in a hands-free style. I do like this in that it works very well and does exactly what you want it to. It makes a nice small pool of hot glue that is very easy to work with and manipulate. This has made crafting many different items go so much faster. I was afraid of how light it was, that it could get knocked around easily, so I put this in a place where I could plug it in at the level it was sitting, so there is no cord hanging down that could potentially get pulled on or tripped over. This helped ease my mind and I used this for a few hours without issue or even burning myself (not typical as I usually burn myself at least once with the glue gun). ... show more

  • Forget the glue gun
I've been wanting one of these for awhile. I've gone through so many glue guns. I wanted just three things, fast heat time, no tip overs, and no continuous oozing hot glue everywhere. But it was one fail after another. Then I started using a heat lamp over a small crock of pieces of glue sticks, it worked but took about half an hour to liquefy. And the lamp had to remain very close to the glue to keep it that way so I was always burning my fingers on the bulb. Now this hot glue skillet is simple in its design, nothing in the way and it won't tip over. It heats up fairly quick too. It would probably heat quicker if I used the glue beads, but I don't have any. I do have dozens of glue sticks that I can just slice up and it works the same.🙂 ... show more

  • Super cool!
I have never actually owned anything like this and have been burning fingers on glue guns for far too long! I have limited outlet space and am always getting hot glue everywhere, setting my glue gun down in precarious places. This has changed the game! One dip into this warmer and the perfect amount of hot glue is wherever I need. I have used this for model building, stamping, cosplay creation, and just regular everyday crafting. I am obsessed and never going back to just a glue gun!! ... show more

  • Is it just me?
Is it just me, or does the dial make no sense? The unit turns off when the dial says “no” (not on). Then you have to turn it past “off” to set the desired temperature. I’m also not thrilled with a product that’s made out of plastic, designed to melt plastic, that’s partially made of PLASTIC!. Yep, the whole green outer cabinet is made of polyethylene. So it feels rather light and cheap. I wouldn’t leave this unattended while using, as it makes me nervous. And I wouldn’t let a kid anywhere near this. That said, it heats up quickly and does the job. 3 stars for an average product. ... show more

  • Compact, light-weight, but needs non-slip foot pads
One of the worst and best features is very simply the weight. The pot weighs ~18 ozs. while the power cord weighs ~4 ozs.. Combine the two and you have ~22 ozs.. The listing states, "1.79 lbs." or ~28.64 ozs.. So this does not add up. My point is: This pot/skillet is very light which makes it very portable, but also makes it easy to slide on a work surface when bumped, or by something lightly tugging on the cord. In fact, the pot slides across most smooth work surfaces with ease. I see this as a potential hazard. My recommendation would be to add some sort of non-slip pad to the feet bottoms. Those might also function as thermal barriers as this pot does get hot underneath! A non-slip mat may not work in this application due to that heat. Having said that, the pot/skillet does heat up quickly, and holds it temperature. The 'de-gumming' stick is a neat addition as it does help remove excess glue. Instructions are a bit iffy. Four stars for now. ... show more
