After reading almost every review and comparing to other products of similar price I particularly liked the look of the wood grain so went with this one (plus reviews overall were really good). Product arrived in less than 2 days and despite a lot of other reviews about difficultly of assembly I had no problem putting it together in about 15 minutes. I have no idea how anyone who can line up a screw with a nut would have too much trouble....there was one screw that was slightly angled, but I took the screws and inserted them into the part FIRST to confirm it caught the threading fine and one of them was slightly angled so I knew when I went to assemble the part I just needed to angle the screw a little. Product itself exceeded expectations for looks and comfort. It's plenty padded and plenty big. I am 6'1, 170lbs and it supports all of me great. The ottoman is angled perfect to support all of your leg from knee down. Another advantage to a separate ottoman is that you can place it where you want as opposed to the one piece chairs that swing out the foot support and are usually too short. The color matches the description, its like a chocolate color, little on the shiny side but perfect for my intended use. Swivel feature I forgot about and LOVE it, allows you to spin the chair so you don't need to move the ottoman to get up. I rated a 4 ONLY because it doesn't recline as far as I would personally like. For the money I don't think anyone can expect to a better product. I plan to purchase another one for the same room now that I know I love this one. ... show more

First furniture order I have ever placed on Amazon. Chose this item after scouring the local furniture stores for similar chairs and finding that most stores wanted around $800 starting for a decent quality chair. More than I want to pay for something like this frankly. Ordered on a Sunday evening and had chair by Thursday with free shipping. Outstanding fulfillment on Amazon's part, but that is pretty much expected these days. Initial impressions - 1. Unpacking and assembly were fairly straight forward, with all the tools needed included as part of the package. I would strongly suggest torquing down on every connection bolt in the frames. A couple of those bolts were a little loose, which would undoubtedly result is excess wear and tear at the connection points if this isn't done. Took about an hour total to unpack and complete assembly. I went through it slowly and methodically, it could certainly be done much faster. 2. Construction and materials are top-notch for this price point. Frankly better than expected. There were no loose stichting points or scratch marks and the Brown color, while very dark is, in my opinion much nicer than plain black. 3. I am 5'9" and 230 lbs. Frankly, I don't think that I could be ANY bigger and have this chair fit me. When I first sat down in it, the impression of sitting on a tiny little school chair was sort of strange, especially with the back of the chair feeling almost too short. That impression quickly changed after a couple of minutes, and it became more like settling into a form fitted seat in a sports car. Very comfortable and supportive. I'm not sure that this would be the case if you are taller or wider than I am. 4. I am only giving four stars at this point due to the swiveling base on the chair being largely made of plastic. Not sure how it will hold up over time, but if it turns out to be a problem, it looks like it can be removed pretty easily. 5. I bought this for my husband and he absolutely loves it. He is about 5'11" and he weighs 175lbs. It is a great value for the price. It arrived very quickly and the packaging was in perfect shape. No scratches or dents. Easy assembly. It took him about 25 minutes to put it together. Some other reviewers said that putting on the arm rests was difficult and that the holes didn't match up. But my husband said that it was not the case at all. The holes matched up perfectly and he put the armrests on in about 10 minutes. Its very comfortable. The cushioning/"leather" is a bit stiff at first, but it softens up over time. Good lumbar support. He has spent MANY hours in the chair reading, watching tv, laptop, etc and he has no complaints. The ottoman is also very comfortable on the calves. The chair rotates easily. All in all, its a great value. Its a super chair for $265 and very good quality. As other people have said, Is it as wonderful and comfortable as at $1200 department store chair? Probably not. But for $265, we are VERY satisfied and have no regrets. Will it hold up over time? We will see. But if it doesn't, at least we didn't spend a small fortune on it. HIghly recommended. ... show more

It assembles fairly easily for those people who have limited skills in this area but this otherwise lovely chair has one very HUGE flaw..,, Every couple of days - without any warning or provocation -- one if the four main big bolt drops out of the undercarriage and causes it to be off kilter. Major pain in the butt to keep having to flip it upside down & repair it over and over again. Major design flaw. So no I Wouldnt buy this chair again. ... show more

The chair is very comfortable, looks good, and lasted about 6 months before the laminated wood that makes up the supports began to separate. This lead to a series of interesting sounds as the supports gradually collapsed over a three week period. The cracking sound scared the heck out of the cat, and didn't do much for me either. I'd recommend the chair if you weigh less than 150 pounds; after that, I'm not sure that it'll last very long. But it does look nice, except for the splintered supports. Update: Customer service requested photos of the fracturing legs. So, I sent the photos. Apparently, they are either understaffed, don't care, or the e-mail went to the planet Wabawaba, because it's been a week, the chair continues to fail, and now even the cat won't sit on it. ... show more
