  • Worth every penny
Works as it should! Runs cheap wire and great for learning. Lightweight and compact. Hot glue gun for metal!

  • Great for the price!
Amazing welding for the price. cranked up it'll really burn in some steel . I've been playing around with it for a couple months now and would highly suggest it for a simple flux wire welder. It functions flawlessly, runs crappy wire, and is super easy to use. Glorified hot metal glue gun.

  • A welder your kids can weld with
I've had this welder for 6 months and I use it weekly with no issues the flux core wire that I have got from the stores in town don't compare one bit to the spool I got from Amazon I tear this welder up and it's been great and it's always worked excellent I've used it in the wind so of course outside terrible conditions rain snow day and night and it's been very reliable and one thing I was happy about also is with a good spool of wire and the ones from Amazon what score E7.30 you're welds come out like you do have gas added. ... show more

  • Partially works as the MIg quit after 15 seconds
I had to order 5lbs of 6013 welding rod to complete my job. The Mig welding only worked for 15 seconds so I had to stick weld to get the job done. When I set the weld setting to Tig or Arc while using the MIG setup the Mig would get a spark/arc so I know the ground etc. was set up right. I had also purchased additional top name brand spool of Mig wire so it was not the wire. My small job ended up costing more because of the welding rod and the Mig wire was a waste of money. 3 stars because the Arc welding worked with the Stick and 5 stars if the Mig welding worked. ... show more

  • Decent little FCAW machine.
This welder looks nearly the same inside as similar sized welders from various brands, though this one has the spool door on the right of the machine instead of the left, in case that matters for your setup. The first thing I noticed out of the box was the contact tip shipped in the torch was cross-threaded and apparently used (note the color difference compared to other tips in the box.) Maybe they tested the torch in the factory before shipping, but it's a 1.0 mm tip and the machine ships with a 0.8 mm spool. I haven't seen this from other welders. Luckily the cross-threading didn't seem to do any permanent damage. Like most cheap FCAW (flux core arc welding) machines this comes with a GMAW/MIG torch even though there is no inert gas. I suppose it's cheaper not to make a FCAW-specific torch, so the gas diffuser and nozzle are a bit out of place. It does, however, come with two pink ceramic nozzles that are perfect for flux core. You can probably just toss the silver nozzle. Other than that, the torch is serviceable if clunky and on a short leash. The connector means it probably isn't upgradeable (more on that later) but if you are thinking you need to upgrade it you probably want to just get a bigger machine. The spool retainer/tensioner is really nice compared to my other welders, and it's really easy to swap spools. It looks like nobody told the artist who drew the instructions about this upgrade, though. =] The last picture shows the drive assembly, which is slightly misaligned from the hole in the front of the machine. This doesn't really seem to affect it much, but it seems like it would have been simple to correct in the design and it puts a tiny amount of extra drag on the wire. The included drive wheel supports 1.0 mm and 0.8 mm wire, and I'm not sure how easy it is to find the odd-sized wheel if you wanted to use 0.9 mm wire or something else. I have a similar welder with the same drive assembly that does come with other sizes. The most unfortunate part about the torch connector is that it uses the same connection point as the grounding clamp/stinger when you are stick welding (depending on electrode choice.) This means that if you want to use this machine for MMA, you'll have to remove the wire from the torch. If you're going to switch back and forth a lot, this could be a major annoyance. This welder does allow you to change voltage in addition to amperage, which is nice, but I found it a little tricky to dial in the settings when compared to similar welders. I don't have a clamp meter to measure actual amperage when welding, but I suspect the displayed numbers should be used as a relative setting rather than measurements. Overall, this is a capable little machine that can make decent welds. It's super portable compared to most welders and could be really convenient for small jobs or hobbyist's workshops. The ceramic nozzles and spool retainer are small details that set it apart from similar sized machines. ... show more
