  • Hold off buying
Size: Pruner Color: Orange
Be aware that even though this is a nice pole and saw, the cutter portion is a MAJOR weak point. After using this for 5 minutes the cutter broke on it's 3rd finger sized branch. I have made Amazon aware of this and will receive a replacement to try again but until then I can NOT recommend this at the time. I have 3 other shorter poles bought through the years that work great that cost no where near what this does. I will update on the replacement pole quality. UPDATE #1 The head on the saw broke within 3 hours of use. Half of it is made out of a JUNK metal that looks like slag from a casting pot. This is what they use to make toys out of and should NEVER be used in anything that takes stress. The other half of the head is plastic and did NOT brake. This failure is totally unacceptable and this saw should be pulled from the market. The head WILL break if you use this pole to cut anything larger than a twig or pencil sized branch. UPDATE #2 The next day I tried retracting the pole and it would not lock so I took it apart to see what happened. The plastic locking body moved out of alignment because there is no stop to keep it from moving and only friction is supposed to hold it in position. I realigned and tightened the bolts alot more than they originally were. Both locks had failed. This is the 3rd failure within 1 day of use. This saw should NOT be on the market as is. They choose to use cheap parts on a good concept. UPDATE #3 I received my replacement pole and you can see there is nothing holding the chain lock plate together on pruner. This is why the first one broke. The grooves are even too thin to add your own plate. After some time I barely squeezed a lock ring on one pin but there is no room for this on the other pin. So if you own this pruner put a tie wrap around the lock plate so it does not fall off. POOR manufacturing. Also without even using the pole I had trouble with the locking pins for extending the pole. I repaired them as before. If your handy you can fix this pole to function but the head is still not very strong and will break over time with sawing motions. It is a GREAT design concept but POORLY executed. Over all I can NOT recommend this pole as is currently manufactured. ... show more

  • Junk! Actually, and expensive piece of junk!
Size: Pruner Color: Orange
One star is way too many for this piece of junk. The selling points described for this pole pruner emphasize the 1-1/4 easy cutting capacity which was true for 1 cut. After that, the steel cutting blade seemed to get caught on the cutting anvil that turned out to be thin, cast aluminum that as part of the gusset that attaches the cutting head mechanism to the extendible pole. As it turns out, the aluminum quickly failed to hold it's position under the force of cutting so the cutting blade tended to catch on the aluminum. After making 8 successive cuts of smaller branches, 1/2 to 3/4 inches in diameter, the aluminum cracked on the blade side of the attaching gusset, making the tool completely useless. At that point, even the curved saw attached to the cutting head was also rendered useless because the cracked aluminum caused miss-alignment and would not support any cutting force. Too bad the cheap, cast aluminum head wasn't made of steel to match the cutting blade and be able to hold up to the compound cutting force. Unfortunately, the well designed extendable pole means nothing without an equally well designed and manufactured cutting head. The few additional ounces of weight steel would add to the cutting head, it would have made all the difference. Don't buy this long pole pruner unless you don't mind wasting your money on a tool that looks infinitely better than it will perform. ... show more

  • Disappointed
Size: Pruner Color: Orange
First of all let me commend you Fiskars for the first saw/pruner I purchased. It must be 15 years old now. Still works and got a lot of use out of it. I ordered a new blade for it, then thought, "What the heck, I'm going to get a new fancy 16 footer and give the old one to my son". The second time I used the new one the chain on the pruner broke. I know what you are going to say FIskars, I used it on a branch that was too big. The wood was hard to cut through, but I don't think I did. Believe me it was never a problem with the old one that my son now has. On the positive side, the blade on the saw is great. I like the hook on the end that keeps the saw in the cut. I also like the really strong, solid pole, however, I am very disappointed. Here's some advice Fiskars: Get rid of the fancy chain and fabric strip on the pruner and go back to a basic spring setup. The chain looks cool, but that's about it. Buyers, Don't buy this product. Unfortunately I bought it in January and didn't start using it until recently (past the refund period). It looks like I am SOL. My only recourse is to say goodbye to Fiskars. I do have a nice saw however, ... show more

  • Hazardous, be very wary of this product
Size: Pruner Color: Orange
I purchased this pole saw earlier this year... sure it has a very capable cutting blade. The issue is when it is extended and I am cutting with the saw, the poles occasionally detach, sending one of the poles and the attached the saw blade falling back towards the user. This has happened several times and it just missed my head the last time, so I am done with this product I have the clamps properly secured, but the poles separate at a junction that is not even supposed to extend. Either this product was very poorly designed or it is defective, so I am done playing "dodge the falling saw". ... show more

  • Broke with first use
Size: Pruner Color: Orange
This product had good reputation. The good- poles extended and locked in place as advertised. The oval pole added strength when fully extended. Saw was sharp and hooked end did keep it on the branch getting cut. The bad- the lopper part has a combination of long round cording with handle at end (ok part), a flat woven tape that is supposed to go around an internal wheel. It came off it’s track on 2nd or third pull. Cannot figure out how to get it back in place. Being off track interferes with how the lopper works. It needs either a better track with higher edges to keep the woven tape in place or use round cording instead. I am happy to accept financial compensation for my idea fix. Thank you very much ... show more
