I use this to keep my filament dry during longer prints. It’s worked well. I don’t know how well it would actually dry filaments based on it having little to no airflow, but in terms of keeping filament dry, it does a good job. The feet are a little awkward, so I 3D printed a base for it to keep it more solidly on the table. ... show more

This works exactly as I was hoping if you were thinking about getting one because you have stringing or quality issues just get it. I had some major stringing and quality problems printing with an old filament. I threw it in here for four or five hours, and the print quality was perfect afterwards.

I've never had a need for a dryer after printing for 5 years, but recently got some moist filament and decided to give this a try. It has been very useful since. It has fairly high temps to work well with a good range of filaments. I don't feel limited by the temp options at all, Nylons, PLAs, TPUs, all work for me. The touch screen controls are a little fussy and could be improved, but they are workable. All and all, it offers a solid feature set for the slightly high price. The biggest downside of the dryer is not having a way to vent the moisture taken from the filament. If you literally just just the lid after 30mins of drying the humidity drops by a few points. But its annoying to have to continue to do that. I, like many others, just prop it up by 5-10 mms and let it dry. That works well, and will get you down to 20% humidity or so in low humidity areas. Note, it does struggle to get down to 20% relative humidity in environments of more than 60% humidity. For example in summer, I struggle to get under 25% when done, and in winter I commonly see 15%-18%. The last downside, which is still pretty significant, is the hole placement for the print and dry option. The two holes are set at completely terrible angles to the filament roll's natural position. Not sure how they screwed that up. For TPU, the out of position holes work fine, but for brittle filaments its nearly useless. That sucks because printing while drying is MOST important for brittle CF infused engineering filaments or light weight PLAs. I've modified mine with a little PTFE tube and its working well, but this is engineering that I shouldn't have to do, especially when this unit is in the upper range of the basic unit prices. ... show more

This dryer is excellent, being able to print while drying is a game changer. The only issue I've run into, is that because the top cover is tinted black and not very transparent, it's difficult to gauge how much filament you have left on the roll, before it's to late and you run out. If you use a flashlight at the right angle you can kind of see through the tinted top plastic and kind of see while printing. ... show more

Something like this is a must have when you move beyond PLA. I use it for Nylon, ASA, ABS, and PC. It only gets up to 70C which is a bummer as Polymaker recommends drying their Nylon at 100C for 8H. I just do it for longer at the max temp and it's been fine. Biggest opportunity for improvement is if they also had a hole at the lower half of the unit for more flexible positioning of the unit near your printer. The unit having the hole on the lid means it was meant to be sitting next to a printer rather than above it. I have it on the top of a lack enclosure and I had to print a little spacer with a downward pointing hole for the filament to travel downward into the enclosure. The unforeseen added benefit of this is that the gap this adds to the lid allows moisture to escape. The humidity is lower inside with the small gap than when it's sealed. ... show more

I use this dry box frequently. I love that this newer model reacher higher temps than the 1st gen. It has better heat coverage as the heating pads are located almost 360 degrees on the inside. The humidity sensor seems to work for me as the humidity drops the longer it's running. My biggest complaint is the use of tinted plastic. It may serve a purpose but it makes it difficult to see how much filament is left in the spool with dark colors. I have to open it allowing heat to escape just to see the level. ... show more
