Features

  • HIGH PERFORMANCEThe 6 Knowles BA drivers per ear, together with the carefully-designed 4-way crossover and low-frequency ultra-long sound tube, completely covers the entire audible frequency range with a sound that will take your breath away.
  • More lifelike soundThe FA9 headphones marks the first time FiiO has employed Knowles EJ balanced armature drivers, commonly used among high-end IEMs. FiiO and Knowles collaborated to come up with the custom EJ-33877 driver for use in the FA9 earphones for excellent mid-frequency performance with hauntingly realistic vocals.
  • 80.6mm ultra-long sound tubeThe FA9 earbuds employs a specially-designed, ultra-long sound tube 80.6mm in length. The sound tube acts as a low-pass filter that effectively filters out unneeded extra mids and highs from the drivers to ensure a seamless frequency response. The sound tube also ensures the mid-bass is smooth and clean while enhances bass texture in general.
  • 3 sound adjustment switches, 8 possible soundsThe headphones FA9s use of electronic crossover technology allows you to tune the sound to exactly the way you want with 3 sound adjustment switches. The impedance, bass, mids and treble adjustment depends on what music you are listening or what your preferences are!
  • REMOVABLE CABLEDetachable MMCX design including a 3.5mm-terminated cable made of 8-strand monocrystalline silver-plated copper cable gives better audio transmission performance under the naturally-occurring yet adverse skin effect. What this means for actual listening are improved bass and mids, as well as more coherency between all audio frequencies.

  • Search is finally over, love these!
Color: Black
I don't consider myself a high-end audiophile, so my review isn't going to contain all those fancy terms trying to describe the sound of these (plus everything is subjective), but I will explain why I love these. I have extra sensitivity to the 2KHz-8KHz frequency range compared to most people and it has made buying headphones a nightmare for me for many years. With most flat response headphones, the 2-6KHz range sounds super exaggerated to me and is extremely fatiguing, so I tend to prefer the typical a V-shaped response to compensate. However, I find the V shaped response is super exaggerated on most consumer headphones and they just have too much bass and/or treble for me sometimes. I've been looking to purchase some IEMs and have tried a bunch of different brands/models, but could not find any that I really liked. It seems most IEMs either had too much bass, too much mids, or too much treble, or some combination of those. The ones that did have the frequency response I liked unfortunately didn't have enough clarity and sounded muted or muffled overall. Normally, I do not spend this much on headphones, but I got really desperate and decided to try these since they have the custom crossovers. They sound absolutely perfect to me! With the built in cross-over switches and the different ear tips, I was able to find the perfect balance in the frequency response and these have great clarity too. I can finally listen to music again for hours without hearing fatigue! Only complaints (minor): 1) Could not get the vocal tips to actually stay on the IEMs. They would just pop right off (I think they were too tight). This wasn't a problem for me as I didn't want them. Additionally, you can boost the treble with the crossovers anyway, so not sure if those tips are even needed, but mentioning it just in case. All the other tips worked fine. 2) These IEMs do not have a shapeable wire coming out of them to curve around your ears like most IEMs have. Instead they have a short (~0.5") curved plastic piece to direct the wire up and then have an preformed flexible plastic sheath to help curve it around your ears. I'm split 50/50 on that design. It's nice as it reduces a failure point of those constantly twisting connections that other IEMS have, however because the curved wire is not shapeable, I can't shape it the way I like and the sharp curve rests against the top part of my ears. I find the cord can sort of pull on my ears just a bit if I'm moving around and this can create an uncomfortable pressure point where the wire is touching. This isn't all the time since I usually use these sitting at my desk or lying down, and overall I find these IEMs very comfortable for their size, but felt it should be mentioned. In summary, if you don't mind the price, these IEMs are absolutely great and can be tailored to just about any listening preference! ... show more

  • Sound Quality is Shockingly Good
Color: Black
Upon reading the reviews of these IEM's, I figured I'd pick up a pair to demo and try. Upon unboxing, first thing I noticed was the quality of the packaging, which distinctly has that Apple quality of packaging. The included hard case is this leathery material that I LOVE, and the sheer amount of tips included for the IEMS was awesome to see- I settled for SpinFits as they work best in my ear canal. WIthout further ado, onto the actual review of the product itself... :) The FiiO FA9's come with a really nice cable that is comfortable around the ear, although I do wish there was an option to have a 4.4 mm balanced cable shipped with my pair instead of the standard 3.5mm unbalanced cable shipped with every single pair- because I'll have to purchase that extra. The earbuds themselves are solidly constructed and feel like solid hunks of custom-molded resin that one would put into their ears at a concert/shooting range for ear protection. Compared to my Massdrop Plus Universal IEMs, I like the fitment a little more. However they do not compare to the stainless steel construction of the Pinnacle Audio P1 IEMs of mine. As for the audio, all music was lossless vinyl ripped to FLAC files played from a high-end DAC/Amp connected to my computer to ensure maximum quality of audio signal. Out of the box and without any break-in, the FA9's had more clarity, detail, soundstage and richness than all my IEMs- the FiiO FA9's have many technologies found in multi-thousand dollar IEM's. When listening to some John Coltrane music, I was able to tell precisely where each instrument was (good imaging) and truly felt like I was the recipient of a private concert. In all, the asking price may seem high, but the product that is delivered ought to be priced much higher given the sheer quality. Will probably buy another pair as a gift. ... show more

  • I compared this to SE846 carefully
Color: Clear
well, I switched back and forth between SE846 and compared them for almost 3 hours so you don't have to... Verdict: if you have the exact amount of money to spend, go for it. SE846 is almost 2* the price and yet I have to spend that much time to evaluate, this already starts to impress me BUT if you want to get a pair of IEM for on-stage, get the SE846 instead (don't even think of FA9). and as some reviews online, if you listen to pop, consider get the SE846. AND if you finally decide to get SE846, buy yourself a pair of comfortable tips and maybe a higher quality wire (the wire comes with FA9 do sounds better with SE846 than 846's original cumbersome wire). So you may hit the $1000 range if you go SE846. 1. comfortableness: SE846 is the clear loser since FA9 already looks like some customized IEMs. FA9 is very easy to secure in your ear and this is important because improper fit for sure leads to loss of sound quality. please don't underestimate this factor. if you pick a smaller tip then it sounds like a $10 headphone. 2. resolution: SE846 can hear more stuff especially when you're paying attention to those minor details hide in the chaos. 3. loudness (easy to pair with any player): SE846 is easier to drive, although it's not recommended to use with some not-so-capable players/DACs. 4. accessories: if you are a pro grade user, probably the only thing you'll keep for SD846 are those two drivers and the bag. yet the bag looks and feels cheap compared to FA9's. FA9 has great quality cable and way more tips which are very comfortable to use. and yes, as some reviews say, when listening to pop music, SE846 can let you feel the power of the singer, or say the emotion of the singer. FA9 sounds flat somehow. tested with Fiio M15 ... show more
