This spreader seems to be adequate for my use. Mounted it on the back of a zeros turn mower. I got a new longer control cable because the one included is hard to reach on a zero turn mower. I expected to make this modification when I placed the order. Wasn't expecting much when I ordered especially after quite a few reviews said it was cheaply made. After arrival 10 days ago got to use it this morning. Arrived with motor not working. Northern Tool was good to work with to correct problem by replacement. Had to adjust feed mechanism to work easily. Had to adjust spreader shield so it didn't prevent spreader from rotating. Moved operator as suggested in other posts. Secured frame to mower with small chain as shown here in other posts. Better packaging would have mabe prevented some of these problems.Also had to retighten several bolts. Other than the above; sofar it's working. Update Sept 2019; keeps throwing and the losing R Pin, if you use caustic fertilizer all fasteners close to fertilizer will become corroded and rusty. Also fertilizer prevents hopper active plate from operating easily due to excessive corrosion from the cheap metal. ... show more

Got the unit, installed it on my mower with little to no effort, and it worked brilliantly. Sadly, now the motor appears to be dead. I'm trying to spin the motor by hand, and it feels very tight. I still need to take it apart and try to repair it, but I'm not confident I'll find a motor to use as a replacement. ... show more

For the price, this is a good tool. The assembling process was simple and quick. In my opinion, there are two modifications (possibly three) that are easy to do and a must: 1. A ratchet strap or other form of tether to keep the entire assembly from sagging. It’s pictured with one but none is provided. 2. In the hopper, like most spreaders, there is a r-clip that is meant to agitate and stir the seed. That r-clip is not enough (depending on what you’re spreading). I added some very rugged zip ties at different heights and angles and this helped tremendously. 3. Like others have mentioned, depending on your seating, the controls might hit your back. I have a longer hitch on mine so I was able to use the second position with no issues but be prepared to possibly drill a third position. Other than that, I might move the controls off of the hopper for better access but it works. It gets dusty but that’s also to be expected. I want to give it five stars but can’t simply because it isn’t ready to use out of the box. I would buy again if I had to. ... show more

Works really well on our 3/4 acre lot - it takes a few adjustments to get it to distribute evenly -we also bungie cord it to the lawn tractor for some additional stability!
