  • works great and well designed, but may be heavy for some when full
Overall, this backpack sprayer works well and seems to be well made. it has a tank volume of 4 gallons which when full will be around 50lbs. This could be a bit heavy for some when carrying. It does have a handle so it can be carried instead of worn if you so choose. The sprayer's straps are padded to help with the load of carrying the tank. I like that it has a waist belt which is also padded. The hose is 4ft long plus the length of the wand, so you have about 4-5 ft of reach. The flow is adjustable from .1-.6 so that will last anywhere from 6 mins to 40 mins with a full tank depending on the flow rate setting. The sprayer can be used for a variety of things, but personally i think this works best for plant killers and insect killers. The unit is battery operated. The compartment is well sealed. The battery takes about an hour to charge but depending on how much spraying you're doing one battery should be sufficient for home. The tank has a wide mouth for easy fill and built in screen to keep from getting things in sprayer. The unit is very easy to put together. There are different size nozzles with different spray patterns that can be used. The tank as a built-in pressure switch which allows quick flow without delay. There is an easy to access dial that adjusts flow rate. Overall, this is an efficient, good quality backpack sprayer, but it may be too heavy for some users when at full capacity. ... show more

  • A Near Silent, Instant Pressure, Powerful Monster of a Sprayer
I tend about an acre of yard I keep in "excellent curb appeal" shape because it's my family's sanctuary and my hard work built this Castle, I want it beautiful and inviting at all times. I also live in the South, where just about everything grows, including gazillions of hungry insects and aggressive fields of crabgrass, creepin charlie, andd a boatload of other weeds that are butt ugly, uncomfortable on the feet, and a pain in the rear to get rid of. Kudzu is also highly prevalent in the area, but it's better to follow and cut the feeder vine(s) than it is trying to spray or poison this darned debbil's weed. I've long switched from a manual pump sprayer to a battery powered unit, but not all electric pump sprayers are the same and the performance varies between the models. Most will keep the pressure constant, but not all of them, and as the pressure drops until the pump kicks in again, the spray gets weaker as well. Another major pet peeve for me w sprayers is how much liquid is left in the sprayer when it starts spitting and "vaporizing" the solution, making it essentially worthless with liquid still in the bottom of the unit. I've begun pouring the leftovers into a handheld sprayer I use for spot spraying, but it's still...frustrating because not all of them do this, so I know it's a fixable issue for those that do. But I digress. This is one badarse sprayer folks. Powerful, adaptable and versatile, darn near silent when operating, instant pressure when you flip the on switch, a catch screen at the filler hole, and that opening is huge, which is a really REALLY nice feature when you're pouring and mixing very powerful chemicals. The variety of wand attachments are something I don't see in many other units, and the way they they screw on makes for rapid changeouts as needed depending on the type of spray you're trying to achieve. It fits well on the back; no more lugging 3 gallon "bottles" around the yard while tending to your business. Something else I don't see on most other sprayers is a gallons per minute (gpm) control; this unit goes all the way from 1 to 6 gpm, and folks, at its max it is a BLAST of spray, trust me. It fits well on the back and is easily snugged, although if you do fill it up to its max capacity of 4 gallons, you'd best have the unit at table height so you're able to get it onto your back with as little hassle as possible. The unit itself weighs 11+ pounds empty - give or take a pound due to the wife's propensity for "adjusting" the scale I used zeroing feature to give her a weight she can live with - so it's already a beefy sunofagun. Adding another 36-38 lbs of water (4 gallon quantity x 8.3lbs per gallon of water) to it brings it to al total of almost 50 pounds, and it ain't that easy to lift and swing this big behemoth onto your back from the floor. Spoken from lived experience... Which brings me to some of my very tiny quibbles, and trust me, these aren't deal breakers in any sense; this unit is hands down one of the best I've used, ever. the total weight is a bummer, but it's almost inescapable, so EVERY tank sprayer's weight when full is a bummer. However, the fit and comfort of the unit on the back makes this the most tolerable of all the sprayers because you're not lugging this 50 pound anchor around your yard, especially if you've got more than a postage stamp sized yard or garden to care for. The on/off and gpm switches are in an odd spot, covered by the backpack straps, making it a bit of a hassle to access. Probably the biggest quibble I have is the set of instructions they provided; maybe I received a package that inadvertently left out the unit's instructions. Instead, I got instructions on the battery charger (see photos). I know how to use tank sprayers, but that's not the point. I don't need battery charging instructions, I need a set of instructions that help me correctly, properly use the unit. I like having a variety of spray tips, and again it may just be me (and this is also where a proper set of instructions could really help), but I can't find a storage space on the unit itself that holds the nozzle tips holder in place on the unit for quick changeouts. I suspect it's there somewhere and I'll eventually stumble upon it because this unit is too well made for them to make an oversight like this. Unfortunately, I can't tell where the hades it is without instructions. All this said, please do NOT let these tiny, almost inconsequential quibbles impact your final decision on the unit; this beast will almost certainly meet all your needs, meet them with a superior quality, and is built well enough to last for many years of average homeowner uses. I'd order it again, but it's unlikely I'll need another before I'm too old to stagger around the yard with 50 pounds on the back. ... show more

  • Pro quality powered sprayer...
This is a step above the back pack sprayers you can buy in the big box store. It comes with an assortment of useful nozzles (wish they were labelled but you can figure it out) and quality stainless wand and burst proof hose. The battery is rechargeable lithium but holds enough of a charge that a typical homeowner who uses this a few times a week will not need to charge this very often. The issue for me is that the unit, when full, is really heavy and getting comfortable lugging it around for one who is not used to it, is exercise bordering on a bit dangerous. Fortunately, the straps and support (similar to a backpack) are sturdy and well designed. A metal frame keeps the unit a bit off the floor when you put it down--a good feature which avoids crushing the hose. Once pressurized, the pump will shut itself off until the pressure drops enough and the power is easily adjusted with a variable switch. You can apply anything you like with this or even just use it to water your plants. ... show more

  • I'm use to using the 3 gallon, its great having the extra gallon
I've used the 3 gallon manual pump backpack sprayer for years. This is a nice upgrade getting an extra gallon and electric pump is great! I fill it up on a table so I can just squat a little down to put it on my back which works better then trying to lift it onto your back from the ground.

  • Best backpack sprayer I've ever used!
This backpack sprayer is the best one I've ever used, and I've had many over the years! This makes work so much easier, the battery surprisingly lasts for quite a while, and charges fast, I would have loved to see it come with two batteries though, but I'll just end up getting another one down the road. The straps feel really good and are actually comfortable unlike others I have used in the past. This sprayer is also equipped with Viton seals, which will allow you to run bleach (SH) through it no problem. Just make sure to run plenty of fresh water through it afterwards so you don't damage the seals and ruin the pump! The sprayer is built in with a pressure switch, so just fill it up with whatever you're spraying, turn the power on with the switch on the side, adjust the power you want with the dial on the other side (1-10) and then start spraying, its super simple and easy to use! It even comes with a wand attachment to store all of your sprayer tips. What more could you want haha. Overall, I'm very happy with this Field King Backpack Sprayer! Highly recommend! ... show more
