I wanted to touch up the paint in the bathroom and knew that there would be rust on the lid and therefore in my paint (it's over 10 years old). I was hoping to put the paint through the filter to eliminate small rust particles as I transferred it to an all plastic quart container. The paper seems fairly sturdy and doesn't seem like it will collapse into the quart container. However, the paint was a little thick (again, it was over 10 years old) so while it was going through the filter it was really, really slow. I eventually just gave up because I didn't want the paint to dry out more as it slowly seeped through the mesh. I squeezed the paint that was in the filter through and just scooped the rest of the paint out of the rusty can into the new one. If I have problems I guess I'll just buy new paint. ... show more

This product doesn't feel super sturdy, but it's not so cheap feeling that it feels like it'll fall apart either. The gun is very light and very simple to operate... so much so that some of their marketing and "features" in the instructions are pretty laughable. The biggest being the "Spray control knob"... all this knob does is dictate how much pressure you need on the trigger to activate the on switch... there is no speed ramping, it's either on or off, so this knob doesn't actually do anything but change how far you have to pull the trigger to engage the switch. The nozzles seem to work well and give you some options for different paints. I also like the simplicity of all the components. The battery life is surprisingly good, I don't think most people would need to swap batteries mid job for a gun like this, but it's nice that they included 2. Overall, I think most people would be pretty happy with this sprayer. ... show more

I ordered these for two uses. One for the advertised use of straining paint. I use a Wagner airless paint sprayer and these keep the paint spraying well. Pouring paint through them is smooth and easy and these reduce clogs (oh I hate clogs!). The mesh seems to be the perfect size and the opening is large enough to not try my patience. The other use I wanted to use these for is for adding oil to my VW Vanagon. The Vanagon has this weird tube that pulls out the back to allow you to add oil to it. It is a nice idea in theory, but in reality it is still hard to add oil without a funnel. I had these little paper funnels that I would use but I ran out of them. I saw these and thought, two birds, one... well... funnel. It turns out these funnels are a bit too large for this application but I found that by separating the funnel and rolling it tighter, they do work. It can be a bit dicey doing it this way but I think it will work fine as I get more practice. 20 cents a funnel seems fair and they definitely work well for their intended purpose. ... show more
